The Schiit Audio Gungnir 2 DAC expands on Schiit Audio’s multi-bit approach. It uses a new balanced analog stage and four medical/defense-grade DAC8812CRUZ converters with a proprietary time- and frequency-domain-optimized digital filter (based on an Analog Devices DSP). It can be user-switched to operate in a no-oversampling (NOS) mode to bypass the digital filter.
DAC offers Multiform balanced multibit architecture. (four medical or defense grade DAC8812C D/A and time- and frequency-optimized digital filter managed on an Analog Devices DSP; non-oversampling mode also exists), two USB inputs (one high-rate Unison 384), and a completely modular design.
The model uses the Forkbeard platform, a patented multifunctional multi-stack Schiit control system that uses an application for mobile gadgets for full control and visibility of the system's performance.
The Skoll F. phono corrector is a fully balanced, discrete Class A, feedback—free phono corrector that provides an even higher level of amplification than the Stjarna. With low noise levels and up to 70 dB gain, as well as the ability to use balanced inputs, Skol offers the highest value for money.
The new product became the first DAC in the history of Schiit Audio, which uses the so-called Mesh filter, working in conjunction with the standard ESS Sabre DAC chip. Analog Stage based on LME49724 for balanced output, OPA1656 for SE output, with precision thin-film resistors and film capacitors.
The Schiit Full a2 is based on the popular 32-bit AK4490 DAC, and the OPA1662 dual-channel op amp and the LMH6643 current buffer are responsible for amplification. For listening from Full 2, the Oppo PM-3, Sennheiser HD-650 and Audio-Technica ATH-IM02 headphones were selected.
The model is equipped with a built-in 2 x 2W RMS headphone amplifier. A special feature of the device is the Soundstage Control function. It simulates the sound of loudspeakers in headsets so that gamers can control the environment as accurately as possible during the game.
The large terminal, Gjallarhorn, is ready to output up to 10 watts per channel to 8-ohm speakers. Its linear power supply is integrated into the case, as the amplifier is based on a larger chassis, familiar from the Jotunheim model.
The amplifier develops 100 Watts in each channel when operating on a load with a nominal resistance of 8 ohms and 200 Watts with a load resistance of 4 ohms. When choosing a balanced connection, you can use the Schiit Vidar 2 as a monoblock. In this case, the component can output up to 400 watts to a load of 8 ohms.
The Aegir 2F is equipped with an optimized linear power supply unit with a powerful 600 mVA scanner and a 16-diode converter. The amplifier is capable of delivering 30 watts at 8 ohms and 50 watts at 4 ohms.
The power supply unit of the Wotan power amplifier is equipped with two 600 VA transformers each, separately for each channel. The filter has a battery of 160,000 UF capacitors. The output stages are implemented on 24 powerful bipolar Toshiba transistors.
The amplifier is capable of developing a power of 200 watts at a resistance load of 8 ohms and 350 watts when the load is reduced to 4 ohms. The output stage has 24 transistors in differential switching according to the proprietary Schiit Nexus and Continuity scheme.
The Schiit Magni is a compact stationary headphone amplifier designed to work with a wide range of impedance (usually 16-600 ohms), with power up to 2.1 watts at 16 ohms and 130 MW at 600 ohms
The Vali 3 pre-stages are built on lamps, and the output stages are built on bipolar transistors that operate in class AB. Since the device is equipped with line outputs on RCA connectors, users will be able to use it as a preamp. Other characteristics and features remained unchanged.
The Schiit Midgard is a powerful fully discrete headphone amplifier and preamp with a unique Halo™ mixed feedback circuit, designed to work with almost any earphone.
Jotunheim is indeed a fairly large representative of Schiit Audio DACs, especially when compared with inexpensive entry-level models such as the Schiit Fulla 2. The weight of the Jotunheim 2.7 kg alone (versus 200 g for the Fulla 2) is worth something. Supernatural abilities are also present here, if you count for them the ratio of connectivity, sound quality and affordable price. The product turned out to be original and very interesting, the American engineers did their best.
The Schiit Valhalla 3 is an all-tube headphone amplifier and preamp, a continuation of the Valhalla series, featuring a classic "tube" sound with an emphasis on timbral richness and natural delivery.
Schiit LYR is a hybrid tube-transistor headphone amplifier, characterized by the ability to work with both lamps (for example, 6BZ7) and proprietary Schiit LISST solid-state modules.
The Schiit Audio Mjolnir is a fully balanced tube-transistor headphone amplifier designed for audiophiles who prefer flexibility and power.
Digital filtering in all Schiit multibit devices is implemented on a proprietary closed-type filter, the non-trivial design and characteristics of which I described in detail in the test of the flagship Yggdrasil DAC.
A special feature of the model is the fact that the analog output modules, including the unbalanced and balanced ones, and the USB module could be replaced independently.
Schiit Yggdrasil 1 is the flagship multi-bit DAC from the American company Schiit Audio, built on four precision Analog Devices AD5791 chips (two per channel), which provides real 21-bit resolution and signal conversion accuracy.
Schiit SYS is a compact passive preamp and switch with two inputs and one output, designed to control the volume level and select the signal source without using active components and external power; it is characterized by simplicity, reliability and transparent sound, which makes it popular among audiophiles for building minimalistic systems.
The Schiit Saga 2 extends the capabilities of the previous Saga S and Saga+ preamps, while having a lower price. The Schiit Saga 2 preamp is equipped with balanced outputs, headphone output and has two gain levels.
The device is equipped with 2 balanced (XLR) and 3 unbalanced (RCA) inputs, supports output switching, is controlled from a remote control, provides very low noise and distortion, and can also operate in passive mode.
Schiit Freya+ F is a high-end balanced preamp with three modes of operation: passive, active on transistors and tube (on 6SN7), equipped with a relay volume control, supports remote control and via the Forkbeard system, has 2 balanced (XLR) and 3 unbalanced (RCA) inputs, as well as balanced and unbalanced outputs.
Schiit Mani is a compact phono corrector for vinyl players that supports operation with MM and MC cartridges, equipped with four gain modes, low noise and distortion, as well as accurate RIAA correction; mode switches are located at the bottom of the case.
