Thorens has introduced the Thorens TD 404 DD turntable, which reinterprets the classic TD 124 DD platform. It also uses a direct drive with the highest torque. In combination with the pre-installed TP 160 tonearm, equipped with a precision knife-edge bearing, the TD 404 DD turntable guarantees precise tracking.
The new Thorens TD 404 DD platter features an advanced resonance suppression system, and the integrated strobe allows for precise speed adjustment. There are a number of ergonomic improvements, such as the electronic tonearm lift (e-Lift) with an automatic stop function, which gently lifts the stylus at the end of playback, reducing wear on both the stylus itself. The rigid sandwich body of the turntable with a 5 mm thick aluminum top plate minimizes resonances. Three height-adjustable supports with spring damping provide effective decoupling from external vibrations.
The Thorens TD 404 DD turntable will go on sale in Europe in the fourth quarter of 2025 at a recommended retail price of 4,499 euros.
