Thorens is a cult player in the vinyl market. And, of course, the new Thorens MC 1600 phono preamplifier is in the spotlight – it will go on sale in the summer of 2025 at a price of 2,199 euros.
The Thorens MC 1600 is a fully balanced phono preamplifier that supports both moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges. The device is handcrafted in Germany and uses a symmetrical signal path, which guarantees minimal noise and excellent channel separation.
The Thorens MC 1600 offers a wealth of customization options, with the MC input impedance adjustable from 20 to 1280 ohms in over 60 steps, and the gain adjustable from 32 dB to 68 dB in ten steps, while the input capacitance can be varied in the range from 50 to 600 pF. The MM input impedance is a standard 47 kOhm.
