McIntosh MA2375 – a Tube Integrated Amplifier from a Legend of American Audio

American company McIntosh has expanded its catalogue with the new MA2375 integrated tube amplifier. The model combines the brand’s traditional approach to tube amplification with a modern set of connection options and delivers 75 watts per channel, while remaining relatively compact for a device of this class.

Tube equipment has held a special place in McIntosh history since the company was founded in 1949. The MA2375 is the brand’s first tube amplifier in the last ten years and the first model of this type released after McIntosh came under the control of Bose Corporation. According to the manufacturer’s concept, the amplifier is intended to offer McIntosh’s signature sound and recognizable visual aesthetics in a format convenient for modern home audio systems.

The McIntosh MA2375 is built around a fully analogue tube architecture covering both the preamplifier section and the power amplifier stage. The amplifier uses four KT88 output tubes, four 12AT7 driver tubes, as well as two 12AX7A tubes and two 12AT7 tubes in the preamplifier section. This solution is aimed at listeners who value the expressiveness, fluidity and characteristic musical presentation of tube amplification, but do not want to build a system from separate components.

The McIntosh MA2375 develops 75 watts per channel and is equipped with the company’s proprietary Unity Coupled Circuit output transformers. Thanks to them, the amplifier is designed for stable operation with loudspeakers rated at 4, 8 or 16 ohms. Externally, the model follows the classic McIntosh style: a polished stainless steel chassis, exposed illuminated tubes and the brand’s signature blue VU meters.

To improve reliability and protect the components, the McIntosh MA2375 uses the proprietary Power Guard Screen Grid Sensor and Sentry Monitor systems, which operate without fuses. Connectivity options include an adjustable phono stage, a preamplifier output, an output for an active subwoofer, data ports and an RS232 interface for integration into smart home control systems. As a result, the amplifier can be used not only in a classic stereo setup, but also in more complex modern installations.

In addition, the McIntosh MA2375 features an analogue five-band equalizer, gold-plated Solid Cinch speaker terminals and a High Drive headphone amplifier with Headphone Crossfeed Director technology. The equipment list also includes Power Control, Home Theatre PassThru mode and a remote control. The amplifier weighs 42.2 kg, while its dimensions are 45.2 × 25.2 × 51.9 cm. In Europe, the new model is already available at a recommended retail price of 19,500 euros.
