Grimm Audio PA1 – Class AB Monoblock Power Amplifier

Dutch company Grimm Audio presented the PA1 monophonic power amplifier at High End Vienna 2026. This is a fully balanced Class AB monoblock designed for high-end audio systems where a combination of high precision, control and natural musical presentation is required.

Grimm Audio notes that, during the development of the PA1, particular attention was paid to reducing dynamic signal distortion. According to the company’s engineers, this type of distortion is often underestimated, even though it can noticeably affect the perception of music. With the new model, Grimm Audio aimed to combine the expressiveness and emotional character often associated with the best tube amplifiers with the stability, power and predictability of modern transistor designs.

Despite its relatively compact enclosure, the Grimm Audio PA1 power amplifier is designed to work with demanding loudspeakers. The amplifier is capable of delivering more than 150 W per channel into an 8 Ohm load, making it suitable for systems where not only detail and transparency are important, but also confident control of loudspeakers during complex musical passages.

The manufacturer also paid particular attention to the appearance of the device. The enclosure design of the PA1 amplifier was created by industrial designer Michiel Uylings, already familiar to fans of the brand through his work on the Grimm Audio MU1 and PW1 components. Visually, the amplifier is executed in a strict and minimalist style: the enclosure looks restrained, while at the same time emphasizing the status of the device and its belonging to high-end audio equipment.

The technical section of the Grimm Audio PA1 power amplifier includes a linear power supply with automatic mains voltage selection. The stated output power is 150 W into 8 Ohms and 200 W into 4 Ohms. The signal-to-noise ratio reaches 118 dB at 150 W into 8 Ohms, while total harmonic distortion is specified at no more than 0.0001% at 1 W into 8 Ohms. The gain can be selected between two values – 26 dB or 18 dB.

The dimensions of the Grimm Audio PA1 power amplifier are 250 × 250 × 240 mm, and the weight of one monoblock is 15 kg. The new model will be covered by a limited five-year warranty. Grimm Audio will announce the recommended retail price and the start of sales at a later date.
