Fyne Audio is a Scottish loudspeaker maker founded in 2017 by former Tannoy staff, after Music Group bought Tannoy in 2016 and announced cuts at its Coatbridge plant. The company is based near Glasgow and builds hi-fi, home theatre and custom install speakers. Its signature technology is the point-source driver, in which the tweeter sits at the centre of the mid/bass cone so both share one acoustic centre.

Range & what it's known for

The range climbs from the F300i and F500 families (F500E, F500S, F500SP) through the F700 and F700SP to the F1 series, topped by the F1-12, with an F1-10 Anniversary edition. The Vintage line, including Vintage Classic and Vintage Classic Gold SP, takes a retro look, and the Cubitt series and the FA300iC and FA500iC in-ceiling models serve custom installs. The core engineering is the IsoFlare driver array, which aligns the tweeter inside the woofer for phase coherence and a wider listening area, along with the BassTrax bass system, FyneFlute driver technology and the SuperTrax omnidirectional super tweeter used on top models.

Who owns it and where it's made

Fyne Audio is an independent company. Dr Paul Mills, who spent 30 years as technical director at Tannoy, holds the same role at Fyne and has led speaker development since the start. The registered office is at the Grovewood Business Centre in Bellshill, and the company runs a factory just outside Glasgow. Higher models use birch ply cabinets and paper cones.

The lineup in this catalog

Fyne models listed here span several speaker categories, with prices from about GBP 500 to well over GBP 20,000 across the F-series and Vintage models.

Who it's for

Fyne carries one engineering idea from its cheapest pair to its top models. The F300i or F500 bookshelf speakers are the way in, the F700 and F701SP models follow for larger rooms, and the F1 series and Vintage Classic models serve those building a high-end system. For hidden speakers or a matching home theatre layout there are the in-ceiling and Cubitt lines.
