Floorstanding loudspeakers — Fyne Audio F1-10 Anniversary

The F1-10 Anniversary is a limited floorstander that Fyne Audio built to mark its tenth year, revisiting the F1-10, a model conceived in 2016 and launched in 2017. Production is capped at 30 individually numbered pairs worldwide, all made, assembled and finished at the company's factory in Glasgow. Prices are GBP 37,000, EUR 43,000 and USD 49,999.99 per pair. Each pair comes with a serial number, a signed certificate, an anniversary booklet and two etched Glencairn whisky glasses.

Key specs that matter

Fyne describes a three-way design with crossover points at 750 Hz and 16 kHz. A 250 mm IsoFlare point-source driver uses a multi-fibre cone with a FyneFlute surround, and its acoustic centre holds a compression unit with a 75 mm diaphragm of ion-toughened aluminosilicate glass, a PEN film surround, an edge-wound copper-clad aluminium voice coil and a neodymium motor. The response runs from 26 Hz to 60 kHz at minus 6 dB in a typical room. Sensitivity is 94 dB for 2.83 V at 1 m into a nominal 8 ohm. Fyne recommends 20 to 280 W RMS of amplifier power and rates continuous handling at 140 W RMS with 560 W peak. Each cabinet is 124.7 cm tall, 40.4 cm wide and 58.4 cm deep and weighs 58.7 kg.

Engineering and use context

The SuperTrax unit is a 25 mm thin-ply carbon diaphragm with a neodymium motor that fires upward into a Tractrix-profile diffuser for 360-degree dispersion. Fyne says this is the first time it has integrated a SuperTrax into the cabinet itself. Low frequencies leave through a downward port into a BassTrax Tractrix diffuser in a twin-layer aluminium plinth, combined with the internal twin-cavity tuning used elsewhere in the brand's range. The crossover is hard-wired on fibreboard panels instead of a printed board, with ClarityCap PUR polypropylene capacitors, laminated-core inductors and non-inductive thick-film resistors, and the finished assemblies get a multi-day deep cryogenic treatment. Neotech PC-OCC cable links the parts inside. The curved enclosure uses heavily braced high-density birch plywood with solid wood trim, dressed in American walnut veneer with high-gloss burr walnut and champagne-gold details. Every pair receives 100 hours of factory run-in.

Pairing

The high efficiency and broad recommended power window leave room for anything from a modest valve amplifier to a powerful transistor unit. Gold-plated WBT nextgen posts in two pairs support split cabling or two amplifier channels per side, and a fifth terminal grounds the driver chassis. Rear controls trim the level above 750 Hz, the 2.5 kHz to 5 kHz band and the SuperTrax range, each by 3 dB either way. Machined floor cups, an adjustment tool and Neotech jumpers are supplied.
