Vestlyd Introduces M6C Active Speakers with HDMI/eARC, USB-C and a Phono Stage

Danish audio manufacturer Vestlyd has expanded its active speaker range with the new M6C Active model. The compact stereo system combines a design inspired by 1970s studio monitors with a modern selection of wired and wireless interfaces. The speakers can be used for listening to music, reproducing TV sound, working with a computer, connecting a turntable or integrating equipment in a home studio.

The Vestlyd M6C Active is a two-way system with built-in amplification, eliminating the need for a separate integrated amplifier or AV receiver. The main speaker houses four Class D amplifier modules, each rated at 75 watts RMS. An integrated digital signal processor handles audio processing, frequency division and sound tuning.

Each speaker uses a 6.5-inch coaxial driver with a centrally mounted 1-inch tweeter featuring a titanium dome. According to the developers, this arrangement helps create a more coherent soundstage and allows the speaker to behave more like a point source. The bass-reflex enclosure provides a stated frequency response of 48 Hz to 22 kHz at −3 dB. At the −6 dB level, the range extends from 43 Hz to 24 kHz.

One of the key advantages of the Vestlyd M6C Active is its wide range of connectivity options. An HDMI port with eARC support is provided for connection to a television, while an optical input is available for other digital devices. Via USB-C, the system accepts audio signals at resolutions of up to 24-bit/192 kHz. When connected to a computer, users can also control the overall volume from the keyboard, making the speakers particularly convenient for desktop use.

Analogue sources can be connected without additional equipment. The built-in RIAA phono stage supports moving-magnet cartridges, allowing a turntable to be connected directly to the speakers. Combination XLR/6.35 mm inputs are provided for musical instruments, mixing consoles and studio equipment. The system also features a dedicated output for an active subwoofer.

Wireless audio transmission is handled by Bluetooth 5.1 with support for the aptX HD, aptX Low Latency and AAC codecs. A remote control is included, allowing users to select one of three preset equaliser modes: Music, Movie or Flat. Bass and treble can also be adjusted using switches on the rear panel. The automatic power-on and standby function does not work with every source: automatic activation is unavailable when using Bluetooth or the built-in phono stage.

The system follows a common active-speaker configuration in which the amplifiers, inputs and control electronics are housed in one speaker, while the second unit is connected as a passive speaker. However, the owner can assign the Master speaker to either the left or right channel, making the system easier to position in a room. A 3-metre four-core speaker cable is included for connecting the two cabinets. Each speaker measures 36.3 × 24.6 × 21.6 cm. The Vestlyd M6C Active can be installed on the company’s M-Stands, standard 35 mm speaker stands or compatible wall brackets. The release date and recommended retail price have not yet been announced.
