Argon Audio Aurora – Direct-Drive Turntable

Argon Audio has introduced the Aurora, the company’s first direct-drive turntable. The model is aimed both at users taking their first steps into vinyl playback and at more experienced listeners. Its design combines a substantial low-resonance chassis, a proprietary S-shaped tonearm and a pre-installed Ortofon Concorde Music Blue MM cartridge. A built-in switchable phono preamp allows the turntable to be connected directly to an amplifier or active speakers.

The platter is driven by a brushless motor with an 8-pole coil structure. According to the manufacturer, this design ensures stable rotational speed and helps reduce wow and flutter. The main bearing is fully isolated from the motor in order to minimise the transmission of vibrations to the platter and cartridge. The turntable is built around a 55 mm-thick MDF plinth, while the aluminium platter weighs around 1.5 kg and is complemented by rubber damping and a substantial rubber mat.

The Argon Audio Aurora is equipped with a rigid, statically balanced S-shaped aluminium tonearm featuring ATS technology and adjustable VTA. The Ortofon Concorde Music Blue cartridge is integrated with the headshell, simplifying installation and replacement. Thanks to the common Concorde Music platform, future upgrades can be carried out without replacing the entire cartridge – users only need to install a higher-grade stylus. The turntable supports 33, 45 and 78 rpm speeds and also features automatic stop as well as standby mode after 20 minutes of inactivity.

The Argon Audio Aurora turntable is available in two finishes: matte black and walnut veneer. Its equipment also includes an integrated power supply, height-adjustable vibration-isolating feet and all the necessary adjustments for precise tonearm setup. The recommended retail price in Europe is €1,299.
