Sumiko company has released a new MC-cartridge for vinyl, the Sumiko Oriole. The model is housed in an open-faced, lightweight alloy body, while the motor and magnet system are mounted on a PEEK (polyetheretherketone) generator mounting plate, ensuring stable vibration transfer to the tonearm headshell for further dissipation.

The cartridge is equipped with a diamond stylus Shibata (6.5 x 40 µm), and the cantilever is made of aluminum. The output is 0.3 V, and the coil's internal impedance is 5.5 ohms. The manufacturer recommends selecting a load above 55 ohms. The coils are wound with high-purity copper wire, and the compliance at 100 Hz is 12 x 10-6 cm/dyne. The cartridge weighs 7.3 grams.

The Sumiko Oriole retail price starting at $1,699.
