Japanese company Accuphase has expanded its lineup of high-end digital sources by introducing the Accuphase DP-570S SACD/CD player. In addition to playing optical discs, the new model is equipped with digital inputs, including a USB-B port, allowing the built-in DAC to be used with other sources. There are also digital outputs, enabling the player’s transport to be used with external DACs.

The Accuphase DP-570S player, which replaces the DP-570 model, is based on a specially developed optical-disc transport mounted on a multi-layer support plate, providing an exceptionally low center of gravity. This solution is aimed at minimizing unwanted vibrations when reading data from a disc. The effect is further enhanced by massive metal isolation feet and a damped tray mechanism. In practice, this results in smooth, stable disc rotation and exceptionally stable data transmission, regardless of whether an SACD, a standard audio CD, or a data CD is being played.
The digital “heart” of the Accuphase DP-570S is the brand’s proprietary MDS+ DAC, which uses four ESS Technology ES9028 Pro delta-sigma chips in parallel. According to the manufacturer, this architecture significantly improves noise, linearity, and distortion performance. The concept is complemented by ANCC technology: it employs an additional sub-amplifier to selectively suppress unwanted noise components in the main signal. In practice, this is said to be especially beneficial in quiet passages and when reproducing the finest musical details.

For analog signal processing, Accuphase uses a Direct Balanced Filter circuit with completely separate signal paths for the unbalanced and balanced outputs. Both outputs feature their own dedicated gain stages, minimizing mutual interference and ensuring consistent signal quality. In addition, a phase switch on the balanced output allows adjustment for different system configurations, which is particularly convenient with complex combinations of preamplifiers and power amplifiers.

In addition to optical disc playback, the Accuphase DP-570S can operate as an external DAC for digital sources, such as a network transport. The new model supports USB, HS-LINK, coaxial, and optical S/PDIF interfaces. High-quality high-resolution signals from a computer can be played via USB, while the proprietary HS-LINK bus provides especially low jitter when connected to compatible Accuphase components. The digital outputs can be used to integrate an external stem equalizer and perform fine sound tuning in the digital domain. Or to use a different DAC.

For PCM signals, the maximum resolution is 32-bit/384 kHz when using the USB or HS-LINK inputs. Via coaxial S/PDIF, digital streams up to 24-bit/192 kHz can be fed in, and via optical – up to 24-bit/96 kHz. DSD signals can be received via HS-LINK and USB in formats up to DSD256, i.e., up to 11.2896 MHz.

Operation of the Accuphase DP-570S player is extremely simple and intuitive – via the controls on the front panel or the supplied remote control. The easy-to-read information display shows the track number and playback time, as well as the sampling frequency and bit depth of the signal being played. Programmable playlists additionally allow tracks to be played back in the desired order.
The recommended retail price of the Accuphase DP-570S SACD/CD player in Europe is €10,570. The start date of sales will be announced later.
