Shanling has introduced the SCD3.3 ($3,899), a top-loading SACD player with discrete R2R DAC and tube output stage. The patented top-loading optical disc transport with HD850 laser system targets not only exceptionally stable CD, SACD, and MQA-CD playback but also mechanically quiet operation that reduces digital jitter.

The Shanling SCD3.3 uses a discrete R2R DAC built on an array of 212 precision resistors with extremely tight tolerance. This fully discrete architecture ensures exceptionally natural signal reconstruction without the typical filtering and clocking behaviors of classic delta-sigma converters. The second-generation design delivers even lower noise and finer dynamics - particularly noticeable with quality SACD material and hi-res files via USB.
Two independent oscillator groups provide optimal synchronization. Frequencies of 90 and 98 MHz serve FPGA processing, while the XMOS subsystem for USB and data reception operates at 45 and 49 MHz. This separate synchronization architecture significantly reduces jitter-induced distortion.

The Tube Output Stage relies on 12AT7 tubes complemented by two operational amplifier stages. Between the discrete R2R ladder and amplification section, a Texas Instruments OPA1612 serves as a low-pass filter, ensuring transparent transition from R2R-DAC to analog section. The final output stage uses MUSES8920E from Mouser Electronics.
