Reed has announced the Reed SF optical pickup head, as well as a special dual-block Reed EQ phono preamplifier with an external Reed PS power supply. Reed SF is an optical cartridge, its stylus (a Shibata-tipped diamond on a sapphire cantilever, with a recommended pressure of 1.5 to 2.0 grams) reads information from a vinyl record track, but the needle's movements are tracked by a laser-based optical system.
Reed EQ is a phono preamplifier designed specifically for optical pickups. It provides RIAA correction and is equipped with a switch for playing monophonic records. There are unbalanced analog RCA and balanced XLR outputs, and the power supply is maximally isolated from the main circuits and is located in a separate Reed PS unit. Specially designed to provide stable and clean power supply.
Information about recommended retail prices and availability dates of new products, as well as detailed technical specifications will be published soon.
