British loudspeaker manufacturer ProAc unveiled the two-way monitor loudspeaker ProAc Response DB1R at the Bristol Hi-Fi Show 2026. The “R” in the model name stands for ribbon, referring to the ribbon tweeter. The new model builds upon the concept of the compact two-way ProAc Response DB1, which is equipped with a soft-dome tweeter.

According to the manufacturer, the new ProAc Response DB1R retains the same musicality, balance, and refinement as the Response DB1, but thanks to the implementation of ProAc’s proprietary ribbon technology, it reaches a new level of performance. The ribbon tweeter, featuring a diaphragm lighter than a human hair, incorporates a damped rear chamber and an Alnico magnet system, ensuring exceptional detail retrieval, speed, and transparency in the high-frequency range.

ProAc states that this tweeter design has already proven popular in other models within the Response series and has now been implemented in the most compact version. The DB1R is the smallest loudspeaker in the ProAc range ever to feature a ribbon tweeter.

The ProAc Response DB1R loudspeakers will be available in standard finishes including Black Ash, Mahogany, Cherry, Walnut, Natural Oak, and Silk White, as well as more expensive premium finishes such as Liquidambar, Rosewood, and Ebony. The speakers will go on sale in May 2026. In the UK, the recommended retail price for the standard finishes is £2,945, while the premium finishes are priced at £3,465.
