Sonoro PLATINUM Signature – Budget Vinyl Turntable
Sonoro audio has released the PLATINUM Signature turntable, developed with the involvement of Karl-Heinz Fink. The model joins the company’s Signature Line and follows a deliberately traditional concept, with no Bluetooth, automatic shut-off, or built-in phono preamplifier. The electronics are used solely to control the motor, while the cartridge signal is routed directly to gold-plated RCA outputs. An amplifier with an MM phono input or an external phono stage is therefore required.
The turntable is built around a two-layer MDF chassis with Constrained Layer Damping designed to suppress unwanted resonances. Additional vibration isolation is provided by spring-loaded feet. The cast-aluminium platter is paired with a combined rubber-and-felt mat, while the bearing incorporates Delrin. The belt-drive system uses a DC motor with active speed control: an optical sensor monitors spindle rotation and allows the electronics to make continuous corrections. Speeds of 33 1/3 and 45 rpm are supported.
The Sonoro PLATINUM Signature is fitted with a statically balanced J-shaped tonearm with an effective length of 224 mm. Mounted on an aluminium platform, it offers height adjustment, thread-and-weight anti-skating, and a detachable headshell with a bayonet fitting. Tracking force is adjustable from 0 to 2.5 g, while compatible cartridges can weigh between 5 and 9.5 g. As standard, the turntable comes with an Ortofon 2M Red MM cartridge featuring an elliptical stylus, a 5.5 mV output, and a recommended tracking force of 1.8 g. The stylus can also be upgraded to an Ortofon 2M Blue.
The enclosure follows Sonoro’s restrained design language and will be available in matte white and matte black finishes. The package includes a transparent acrylic dust cover, a phono cable with capacitance below 100 pF, a cartridge alignment template, and an external power supply. The turntable measures approximately 423 × 129 × 356 mm. The Sonoro PLATINUM Signature is scheduled to go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2026 at a recommended retail price of €1,199.
