ATC EL50 Anniversary – Anniversary Active Loudspeaker System

The British loudspeaker manufacturer ATC unveiled the active three-way loudspeaker system ATC EL50 Anniversary at the Bristol HiFi Show 2026. The model will be released in a limited edition. According to ATC, the ATC EL50 Anniversary is based on the company’s legendary 50 platform. The new model continues the brand’s discrete active multi-amplified concept, tracing back to models such as the SCM50 Anniversary and the SE series. The industrial design references the ATC EL150 with its elliptical enclosure, originally developed by company founder Bill Woodman.

The ATC EL50 Anniversary loudspeaker system is equipped with a new three-channel MOSFET-based amplifier operating in Class AB, featuring a balanced input, user controls, and active fourth-order crossover filters. The rated amplifier power is 200 watts for the woofer, 100 watts for the midrange driver, and 50 watts for the tweeter. The design incorporates discrete amplification stages and individual toroidal power transformers for each amplifier channel, as well as a separate low-voltage power supply – all aimed at reducing noise and intermodulation distortion while preserving dynamic headroom. Selectable input sensitivity, trigger control, and an integrated protection and fault-monitoring system are also provided.

The ATC EL50 Anniversary enclosure is constructed from laminated multi-layer panels to ensure high rigidity and effective damping. The curved front baffle and rounded edges are designed to reduce diffraction and maintain a consistent frequency response both on- and off-axis. The woofer is mounted in an aluminum ring attached to the front baffle for additional stiffness. The standard finish includes carefully selected European walnut veneer with ebony inlays, a high-gloss lacquer finish, and Nappa leather detailing around the midrange and tweeter.

ll drivers used in the ATC EL50 Anniversary are designed and manufactured in-house by ATC. The tweeter is the SH25-76S model featuring a neodymium motor and a dual-suspension dome. The midrange is handled by the 75 mm SM75-150S Superdome driver operating from 380 Hz to 3.5 kHz. Frequencies below 380 Hz are reproduced by the 9-inch SB75-234SL driver employing ATC’s proprietary Super Linear motor system to reduce harmonic distortion and maintain linear excursion.

The ATC EL50 Anniversary loudspeakers will initially be produced in a limited run of fifty pairs. Each pair is supplied with a hardbound book documenting ATC’s history since 1974. After the limited edition is completed, production is expected to continue. The model is scheduled to become available in March 2026. In the United Kingdom, the new loudspeakers will be priced at £49,500 per pair.
