ModalAkustik MusikBoxx – loudspeakers with ribbon tweeters

19.12.2024 15:37 | ~1 minute read

ModalAkustik has introduced new two-way acoustic systems ModalAkustik MusikBoxx without a crossover (you can use two-channel amplification with a low-level crossover based on DSP, which can be implemented, for example, in a sound processor, or use a proprietary external high-level crossover MusikCrss, made on Mundorf and WBT components).

The ModalAkustik MusikBoxx acoustic systems are equipped with a Dipole AMT ribbon tweeter from Mundorf and a midrange/low-frequency Accuton driver with a ceramic diffuser, operating in a closed box design. The speaker body is made of acrylic plates reinforced with steel struts. As an option, in addition to crossovers, original stands based on a set of steel rods are offered. The acoustics have an extremely low sensitivity of 82 dB - this should be taken into account when choosing amplification.

The dimensions of the ModalAkustik MusikBoxx cabinet are 220 x 210 x 280 millimeters without a tweeter (with a tweeter, the height increases to 315 millimeters). The weight of one speaker is 7.9 kilograms. The recommended retail price of the new product is 4,900 euros for a pair of speakers without a crossover. External MusikCrss crossovers cost 2,300 euros per pair. The tripod stand has a height of 727 millimeters and costs 900 euros per pair. To expand the low frequencies, the speakers can be equipped with a proprietary ModalAkustik MusikBass subwoofer, which uses the RiPol principle.
