Marantz AV 30 and AMP 30 – an AV processor and 6-channel power amplifier for your home theater

Japanese audio brand Marantz is expanding its lineup of reference-class home-theater electronics with the introduction of the 11.4-channel Marantz AV 30 AV processor and the six-channel Marantz AMP 30 power amplifier. Like the previously introduced pairs Marantz AV 10 and AMP 10, as well as Marantz AV 20 and AMP 20, the new AV processor and multichannel amplifier are, according to the manufacturer, “designed in an exceptionally uncompromising way and offer maximum flexibility in use.” Both AV components integrate seamlessly with other Marantz products and therefore suit a very wide range of theater system configurations, use cases, and performance requirements.

To ensure the best possible results with any content sources in all available audio modes, the sound quality of the new products has been carefully “tuned by ear” by Marantz audio specialists. Both components are manufactured at the company’s Shirakawa Audio Works factory in Japan.

Both the Marantz AV 30 AV processor and the Marantz AMP 30 six-channel power amplifier feature the latest generation of the iconic porthole display and share the luxurious industrial design for which Marantz has been known for decades. The elegant front panels of both models are complemented by adjustable side lighting. The Marantz AV 30 processor includes a fold-down front panel that hides rarely used controls behind it. This solution creates a clean, minimalist aesthetic that AV components often lack. The remote control is also thoughtfully designed and includes backlighting to make operation as convenient as possible in darkened rooms.

The Marantz AV 30 AV processor uses the newest and most powerful dual-core SHARC DSP chipset from Analog Devices combined with high-quality 32-bit DAC chips. This powerful platform can decode and process, with high precision, any formats and resolutions of incoming digital audio signals – from hi-res stereo to the most advanced immersive surround formats, including Dolby Atmos, IMAX Enhanced, DTS:X, and AURO-3D.

To deliver the best results with a wide range of speaker systems in different rooms, the Marantz AV 30 pairs this computing power with the advanced Audyssey MultEQ XT32 automatic sound calibration system. Using the included measurement microphone, the system automatically performs calibration, taking into account speaker sizes, distances, and volume levels for each channel. In addition, the Marantz AV 30 supports the optional Dirac Live system with Dirac Bass Control and Dirac Active Room Treatment (ART), enabling fully optimized multichannel sound and control of multiple (up to four) subwoofers. Each of the seven HDMI inputs on the Marantz AV 30 supports video signals up to 8K/60 Hz or 4K/120 Hz, while setup and configuration are made as convenient as possible via a clear and highly detailed user interface.

From cozy media rooms to purpose-built large home theaters, a rich selection of analog and digital inputs – including optimized custom-install features – makes the Marantz AV 30 a versatile solution. Its preamp stage based on discrete HDAM SA-2 modules delivers up to 11.4 channels via RCA or XLR outputs, offering broad freedom when building a system.

The Marantz AV 30 AV processor is equipped with the HEOS multiroom platform. Originally developed by Marantz’s “sister” brand Denon, this convenient platform provides easy access to a wide range of streaming services. Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay 2, and Bluetooth – together with HEOS – ensure effortless access to both online services and local content on mobile devices.

The slim Marantz AMP 30 is an efficient six-channel power amplifier capable of delivering up to 200 W per channel across all six channels (8 ohms, 1 kHz, THD 0.05% with two channels driven). That power reserve is more than enough to confidently drive a wide variety of speaker configurations. Bridged (BTL) operation is also supported, turning a “6 × 200 W” configuration into “3 × 400 W.” Audio is fed to the amplifier via XLR or RCA inputs.

The Marantz AMP 30 is an ideal partner for other Marantz components – for example, as a powerful upgrade for the front and center channels in an AV system with the Marantz CINEMA 30 receiver, or as a logical addition to an existing system based on the Marantz AV 10 or AV 20 processors. Similarly, Marantz AV 30 users can, as needed, easily combine the Marantz AMP 30 with the 16-channel AMP 10 or the 12-channel AMP 20. This provides huge power reserves and optimal integration in large-scale home theaters.
