Lotoo Gungnir and LPX-01 – Desktop DAC/Headphone Amplifier with USB-PD Power Supply

Lotoo has introduced two new components for desktop audio systems: the Lotoo Gungnir DAC with headphone amplifier and the Lotoo LPX-01 external power supply, designed specifically to work with it, but not exclusively. The company will showcase both devices at High End 2026 Vienna in early June, as well as in the World of Headphones area in Vienna.

The Lotoo brand is well known in the portable Hi-Fi audio segment and is part of Beijing Infomedia Electronic Technology Co. Ltd., a company with extensive experience in the professional broadcast industry. In recent years, Lotoo has strengthened its reputation as a manufacturer of high-precision digital audio devices, while its technological solutions are used not only in its own products but also in developments by other well-known brands, including NAGRA.

The Lotoo Gungnir is positioned as a reference desktop component combining the functions of a digital-to-analog converter, a preamplifier with line outputs, and a headphone amplifier. The device is housed in a relatively compact chassis and is intended for use in a desktop system, an advanced headphone setup, or a small Hi-Fi installation.

The name Gungnir refers to Odin’s mythological spear, traditionally associated with precision, power, and unerring accuracy. Lotoo translates this idea into the device’s engineering concept: the manufacturer emphasizes high output power, clean signal transmission, low distortion, and the ability to work both with demanding headphones and external components of an audio system.

At the heart of the Lotoo Gungnir is a configuration based on two AK4499 DAC chips and two AK4191 chips. The architecture follows the principle of complete channel separation: the left and right channels have their own signal paths, separate analog power supply circuits, and discrete circuit modules. The digital, analog, and power sections are physically separated, which should reduce mutual interference and help maintain a low noise level even at high output power.

One of the key features of the new model is support for Lotoo’s proprietary LTTP Wireless technology. It is designed for lossless high-resolution wireless audio transmission, meaning the Gungnir is intended not only for traditional wired connections but also for modern usage scenarios involving wireless digital sources.

The Lotoo Gungnir offers a much broader set of interfaces than one would usually expect from a compact desktop device. The front panel features four headphone outputs: 6.35 mm, 3.5 mm, balanced 4.4 mm Pentaconn, and balanced 4-pin XLR. The rear panel includes AES/EBU, coaxial and optical S/PDIF digital inputs, a USB-C port for USB-DAC mode, AES/EBU, coaxial and optical S/PDIF digital outputs, as well as XLR and RCA analog line outputs. Power is supplied via a separate USB-C PD input supporting the USB PD 3.0 standard – 20 V / 3 A.

In addition to the Gungnir, the company offers the Lotoo LPX-01 external power supply. It is a Hi-Fi USB-PD power source with an output of up to 160 W, housed in a shielded metal chassis. According to the manufacturer, this design helps reduce electromagnetic interference and provide more stable power delivery. The LPX-01 can be used not only with the Lotoo Gungnir but also with other compatible devices, including USB DACs, headphone amplifiers, smartphones, and external storage drives. The stated noise level in the 20 Hz to 40 kHz range is 200 µV.

The recommended retail price of the Lotoo Gungnir is set at €3,399. The Lotoo LPX-01 external power supply is priced separately at €629.
