British company Kerr Acoustic has introduced the K400, a compact two-way loudspeaker system. The new model has become the most affordable and most home-oriented professional loudspeaker in the manufacturer’s catalogue. Kerr Acoustic originally specialised in loudspeakers for recording studios, but around three years ago entered the consumer market with the K300, K320 and K100 models. Later, the range was joined by the K200 monitor, also developed with professional requirements in mind.

The Kerr Acoustic K400 is aimed at demanding listeners who want studio accuracy in a more compact format suitable for living spaces. According to the company, this model is better suited to smaller rooms than the brand’s larger solutions, while still retaining a professional approach to construction. In addition to stand mounting, the loudspeakers can be mounted on a wall or ceiling, expanding their use in multichannel home and studio systems.
The K400 cabinet measures 341 x 164 x 310 mm, while each loudspeaker weighs 7.5 kg. The cabinet is made from Baltic birch plywood of varying thicknesses – 24, 18 and 12 mm. The internal bracing follows a design close to that used in the K300. Sound reproduction is handled by a 150 mm ScanSpeak mid/bass driver and a 45 mm ribbon tweeter.

The mid/bass driver works with a transmission line, allowing the K400 to cover a frequency range from 39 Hz to 45 kHz. The manufacturer promises deep, well-controlled bass, as well as a clean midrange free from noticeable distortion. The loudspeaker’s stated sensitivity is 88 dB, with a nominal impedance of 6 ohms.
The crossover uses a six-element circuit with second-order filters and a crossover frequency of 1.95 kHz. It includes film capacitors, air-core inductors and carbon film resistors. According to Kerr Acoustic, the K400 can be used both in stereo systems for smaller rooms and in professional multichannel installations. Magnetic protective grilles are included in the package.

Sales of the Kerr Acoustic K400 are expected to begin on 8 May 2026. The model will be offered in various finishes, including natural oak and walnut veneer, satin lacquer, piano gloss lacquer, as well as gloss veneer in any RAL colour. Dedicated stands are available separately.
In the UK, the recommended retail price for a pair of Kerr Acoustic K400 loudspeakers starts at £4,695 for the natural wood veneer version. The satin lacquer version is priced at £4,925, the piano gloss lacquer finish at £5,125, and the gloss veneer finish at £5,345. A pair of dedicated speaker stands will cost an additional £595.
