Raidho X2.8 – Floorstanding Speaker from the X Series with Three-Way Architecture

Danish company Raidho has expanded its X Series with the new X2.8 floorstanding loudspeaker. The model appeared shortly after the introduction of the compact Raidho X1.6 Reference, which was designed to deliver unexpectedly large-scale sound from a relatively small enclosure. With the X2.8, the manufacturer develops the same concept, but in a larger floorstanding format.

The Raidho X2.8 loudspeakers are hand-built in Denmark and take the position of a serious full-size model within the brand’s more accessible range. Despite belonging to the X Series, the speakers incorporate a number of Raidho’s proprietary engineering solutions, including in-house drivers, a carefully developed internal structure and high-grade components. The company emphasises hand assembly, but the main point of interest is how extensively the X2.8 uses technologies familiar from Raidho’s higher-end designs.

The new model is based on a three-way configuration and is equipped with two 8-inch low-frequency drivers with aluminium-ceramic cones. According to the manufacturer, the lower limit of the frequency range reaches 32 Hz. Thanks to this, the X2.8 should offer a more convincing and physically tangible presentation than the compact X1.6 Reference, especially when reproducing double bass, percussion instruments, large-scale piano passages and other music that requires deep and controlled bass.

Raidho’s proprietary ribbon tweeter is responsible for the high-frequency range. The company claims that its moving mass is approximately 50 times lower than that of a conventional dome tweeter. This design is aimed not only at increasing detail, but also at delivering the speed, transparency and openness that are characteristic of Raidho’s sound.

The low-frequency drivers with aluminium-ceramic cones follow the same engineering logic. Their task is to combine high rigidity with effective internal damping so that the bass remains fast, focused and precise. For a large floorstanding loudspeaker, this is especially important: producing a large amount of low-frequency energy is easier than preserving its control, intelligibility and proper integration with the rest of the frequency range.

Raidho has also paid special attention to the internal construction. The X2.8 crossover is assembled by hand using Mundorf components, Nordost cabling and point-to-point wiring. Such solutions are not always visible from the outside, but they directly affect driver integration, signal purity and the speaker’s ability to maintain coherent sound even at high volume levels.

The Raidho X2.8 looks not merely like another expansion of the model range, but rather like an attempt to give the X Series a full-fledged floorstanding speaker with substantial dynamic headroom and a confident bass foundation. The new model could become a logical option for those who were attracted by the idea of the X1.6 Reference, but want deeper low-frequency extension, greater scale and the ability to fill a larger room with confidence.

Sales of the Raidho X2.8 loudspeakers are expected to begin in September 2026. Three finish options have been announced for the model: black high gloss, white high gloss and walnut veneer. The recommended retail price in Europe will be €27,000 per pair for the high-gloss versions and €30,000 for the walnut veneer version.
