Italian company Gold Note has launched the external PSX-5.2 power supply as an upgrade for the electronic components in its proprietary Series 5.2 lineup. Unlike accessories that focus on isolated improvements, the emphasis here is on a broader, system-wide effect. The manufacturer positions the new unit as a way to raise the overall performance of the system by making the sound more cohesive, stable, and clean, with greater dynamic freedom and a quieter background.
The PSX-5.2 power supply is designed exclusively for compatible Gold Note components and is capable of powering several devices at the same time. The list of supported models includes the PH-5 and PH-5.2 phono stages, the CD-5.2 CD player, the DS-5.2 network player, and the HP-5.2 headphone amplifier. This approach underlines the very idea behind the upgrade: it is not a targeted add-on for a single component, but an element capable of improving the performance of an entire system within the Gold Note ecosystem.

The design of the Gold Note PSX-5.2 power supply incorporates a four-channel independent architecture combined with two low-noise voltage regulators. This kind of topology is intended to ensure the smoothest and most stable power delivery possible, with a minimum level of noise and fluctuation. For audio equipment of this class, that is especially important, since power stability directly affects the proper operation of both analog and digital stages.
The developers also paid particular attention to the mechanical design. The Gold Note PSX-5.2 power supply is housed in a chassis made of black anodized aluminum. According to the company, this construction helps reduce unwanted magnetic interactions and thereby has a positive effect on the overall purity of the device’s performance. In practical terms, the manufacturer associates this with a darker background, better microdynamic expression, and more precise rendering of subtle sonic details.

Another notable feature of the model is its fast response to changes in load. This parameter is particularly important when reproducing sharp dynamic peaks and complex transient processes, where the power supply must not lag behind the musical signal. In actual listening, this may translate into more precise attack, better scene structure, and greater transparency of the sound image while preserving the inherent character of the connected components.

The new power supply is aimed primarily at Gold Note owners who prefer to develop their systems gradually without replacing the components they have already chosen. In this sense, the PSX-5.2 fits naturally into the brand’s modular philosophy: improvement is achieved not by replacing the signal chain, but through higher-quality power delivery and a greater level of coordination between all parts of the system.
On the European market, the Gold Note PSX-5.2 is already available at a recommended retail price of 690 euros.
