The German company Beyerdynamic has released the second generation of popular headphones designed for both home and studio use, Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII with a closed acoustic design and DT 1990 Pro MKII in an open configuration. The latest TESLA.45 drivers have a lower resistance of 30 Ohms (compared to 250 Ohms in the first generation models) and easily adapt to a wide range of playback devices.
The TESLA.45 diaphragm is made of PEEK polymer, which ensures deep bass reproduction, while a lighter voice coil made of aluminum-coated copper wire improves the transmission of high frequencies.
Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII Closed-Type Headphones with its closed-type design is ideal for recording, monitoring and editing music, offering a lively sound profile with powerful, deep bass. Compared to the first-generation model, the frequency response of the new product is claimed to be more linear and smoother in the upper mids, while the high frequencies are more balanced, making the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII headphones a versatile tool for any studio. The closed-type design of the headphones also effectively suppresses background noise, making them ideal for focused work.
Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro MKII Open Headphones designed for mixing, mastering and editing and are a great choice for discerning users who want to take their recordings to the next level. Their open design creates a natural, spacious soundstage with precise bass response even in the lowest octaves. The manufacturer notes that the overall high frequency response has been slightly reduced compared to the first generation headphones, which provides a more balanced sound profile.
Both the DT 1770 PRO MKII and DT 1990 PRO MKII headphones from Beyerdynamic have been designed for optimal comfort during studio listening or editing tracks at home. The flexible spring steel headband, made from a combination of memory foam and durable leatherette, has a fontanelle recess to prevent pressure and discomfort on the top of the head.
The Beyerdynamic DT 1770 PRO MKII headphones feature leatherette and velour ear pads. The Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO MKII comes with two different types of velour ear pads. One is the Producing Velour, which provides a fuller sound with a slight bass boost. The other is the Mixing & Mastering Velour, which provides a more analytical sound for making final mixing decisions.
The Beyerdynamic DT 1770 PRO MKII and DT 1990 PRO MKII headphones come with a 3-metre detachable cable and a 5-metre coiled cable, each with a lockable 3-pin mini-XLR connector. USB-C cables are available as an option for direct connection to laptops, smartphones, tablets and other digital devices.
Beyerdynamic DT 1770 PRO MKII and DT 1990 PRO MKII studio headphones will be available on November 15, 2024 at a suggested retail price of $599 USD.
