AVID Ingenium SE – Updated Turntable with Revised Motor and Tonearm

British company AVID Hifi has introduced an updated version of the AVID Ingenium SE vinyl turntable. The new model continues the concept of the original Ingenium Plug&Play, launched in 2013, but receives notable changes in the most important parts of the design: the drive system, power supply and tonearm.

One of the key upgrades is a new motor, developed with reference to solutions used in the higher-end AVID Relveo model. Together with the motor, the turntable has received a redesigned external power supply, intended to ensure more stable drive operation and improve platter speed accuracy.

The AVID Ingenium SE will be offered in several configurations. In addition to the base version, buyers will be able to choose versions with the company’s Metal Platter Upgrade, as well as with the more advanced DSP Power Supply. This power supply adds electronic speed switching and allows for more precise speed adjustment.

AVID has also paid particular attention to the tonearm. In the new Ingenium SE, it features a more rigid structure, adjustable anti-skating and improved internal wiring. According to the manufacturer, these changes should make the turntable more versatile when matching cartridges, while also improving overall tracking accuracy.

In developing the Ingenium SE, the company relied not only on its own engineering experience, but also on feedback from owners and dealers gathered over the years of sales of the original Ingenium Plug&Play. For this reason, the new model is better seen not as a completely new turntable, but as a carefully refined version of an already familiar design, in which AVID has addressed weak points and added more upgrade potential.

Like other AVID products, the Ingenium SE turntable is designed and manufactured in the UK. The model is aimed at listeners who want a vinyl system that is relatively simple to set up, but who do not want to be limited to a fully closed Plug&Play format and may wish to improve the turntable later with separate hardware upgrades.

The base version of the AVID Ingenium SE, with the standard power supply and MDF platter, is priced at €3,595. The version with the metal platter will cost €3,995. The most advanced configuration, including both the metal platter and the upgraded power supply, will be priced at just under €6,000.

For those who do not want to buy the top version immediately, AVID has also provided separate upgrade options. The metal platter will be available separately for €600, while the upgraded power supply will cost €2,000. This allows buyers to start with a more affordable initial Ingenium SE configuration and then gradually develop the system as needed.
