Audio-Technica has introduced a new turntable Audio-Technica AT-LPA2, the case and platter of which are made of transparent acrylic. The model is inspired by the successful AT-LP2022 turntable, released for the 60th anniversary of the Japanese brand.
The design of the Audio-Technica AT-LPA2 uses a 30 mm acrylic plate (the table itself) and a 20 mm acrylic platter. According to the developers, this approach ensures resonance control and minimizes. The turntable is equipped with a belt drive with an optical sensor under the spindle, which constantly monitors the rotation speed of the disc and ensures playback accuracy at both 33 1/3 and 45 rpm. The power supply and control unit of the Audio-Technica AT-LPA2 is located in an external case.
The Audio-Technica AT-LPA2 turntable features an 8.8” straight tonearm with a carbon fiber tube. The tonearm features VTA, azimuth and anti-skating adjustments based on a thread, and replaceable counterweights weighing 110 g and 130 g. The Audio-Technica AT-LPA2 is factory-equipped with the proprietary AT-OC9XEN moving coil (MC) cartridge. The cartridge is equipped with a 0.3 x 0.7 mil Nude ellipse stylus and PCOCC coils, and has an output voltage of 0.35 mV. The Audio-Technica AT-LPA2 is now available in Europe at a recommended retail price of €1,999.
