Albedo Audio Achema – a Transmission Line on the March

Albedo Audio has released the new Albedo Audio Achema 2.5-way floorstanding loudspeakers, capitalizing on the brand's decades of experience in loudspeaker development.

By using a larger driver for the half-way configuration, the developers increased the radiating surface area to increase sound pressure while maintaining the high energy and dynamics typical of 3-way configurations. This makes it possible to use higher-impedance drivers, offering speakers with nominal impedances higher than the classic 8 ohms. Therefore, Albedo Audio Achema speakers will easily drive any amplifier – they require little power, are easily controlled, and can reveal their qualities even with tube amplifiers. The speakers have an impedance of 11 ohms and a sensitivity of 85 dB and utilize the following driver set: 1× 1" ceramic HF, 1× 6" ceramic MF/LF, and 1× 7" ceramic LF.

Albedo Audio Achema speakers are the first model in a new line of acoustic systems, reflecting the outstanding qualities of the company's most iconic models, such as AGADIA and ACCLARA. They also feature the company's signature resonance-reduction system using heavy steel damping plates. 

For the Albedo Audio Achema speakers, a new cabinet was designed using wooden panels up to 30 mm thick, reducing volume and weight while maintaining the right balance between weight and stability. Furthermore, new side ports on the transmission line not only facilitate installation in any room but also stabilize the airflow, reducing turbulence.

The new crossover boards are designed to Reduce the number of soldering points, shorten copper traces, and arrange components to minimize magnetic field interaction. This optimized performance while increasing sensitivity. MUNDORF components are used in the crossover, which is isolated from the main volume.
