British company Acoustic Energy has announced a new anniversary loudspeaker system, the AE2 40th Anniversary Edition. The model was first presented to the public at the North West Audio Show 2026, which took place in Cranage, United Kingdom. The new product continues the series of special releases dedicated to the brand’s 40th anniversary and follows the AE1 40th Anniversary model introduced a year earlier.

The AE2 40th Anniversary Edition loudspeaker system is based on the classic Acoustic Energy AE2 Signature, although it is not simply a reissue of an archival model. The company’s engineers have reworked the loudspeaker design, adapting it to modern requirements for cabinet construction, drivers and sound character. The anniversary version will be released in a limited edition, although the manufacturer has not yet disclosed the exact number of pairs.

The Acoustic Energy AE2 40th Anniversary Edition uses drivers developed with reference to the solutions employed in the anniversary version of the AE1. In addition, the cabinet has received internal steel elements designed to reduce unwanted resonances and increase overall structural rigidity. According to the developers, the new AE2 is intended to build on the ideas of the AE1 40th Anniversary, offering a larger-scale presentation and greater sonic potential.

In Acoustic Energy’s lineup, the AE2 is positioned above the AE1 and is intended for use in larger rooms. The company aimed to preserve the stereo imaging accuracy and placement flexibility associated with monitor loudspeakers, while adding greater drive, scale and a stronger sense of presence typical of compact floorstanding systems.
At the moment, Acoustic Energy has not revealed the full list of specifications for the AE2 40th Anniversary Edition. The recommended retail price, sales launch date and shipment details have also not yet been announced. More detailed information about the anniversary loudspeaker is expected to appear later.
