Choosing new floorstanding loudspeakers is not an easy task, but our new guide will help you navigate the flurry of new products. Acoustic systems with high-class sound have become much more affordable – which makes market research even more interesting.
Pros – lively and energetic sound
The latest Q-Acoustics 3050c accumulate a whole encyclopedia of modern engineering sound developments in the field of audio. C-cubed Continuous Curved Cone drivers for the MF/LF, a tweeter mechanically decoupled from the front wall in a sealed chamber, a case with a point-to-point mounting system P2PTM (Point to PointTM), special HPETM (Helmholtz Pressure EqualiserTM) tubes that level out standing waves – the list goes on. The acoustics sound incredibly muscular and impressive, their cutoff frequency starts from 42 Hz, and 91.5 dB of sensitivity at 6 Ohms of impedance will not create problems for amplification.

Pros – flexible analog performance
Heco Aurora XT 700 acoustics use an inch silk Fluctus tweeter and three 6.5” drivers for another spectrum (one for the midrange and a pair for the bass, due to which the texture of the lower notes is simply excellent). The cutoff frequency from below is 33 Hz, the sensitivity is 92 dB, the impedance is within the range of 4 - 8 Ohms. Kraft paper diffusers work wonderfully well, providing a very lively analog feed, ideal for vinyl. A solid body made of MDF boards is equipped with a system of amplifying elements and is mounted on an anti-vibration aluminum pedestal, which is rare in this price group.

Pros – high overload capacity, detailed sound
Cabasse Java MC40 easily sound even a large room - do not pay attention to the modest dimensions of these floorstanding acoustic systems. The model uses the proprietary SCS technology and is equipped with the latest two-way coaxial mid-high frequency (1”, 4”) driver BC10 (which partially adopts technologies from the top model La Sphère). A pair of 170 mm woofers with conical diffusers of variable thickness work on the bass, the crossovers are also tricky - with a variable angle, which varies from 6 to 24 dB per octave. The loudspeakers sound exceptionally fast and detailed - do not pay attention to the bass according to the performance characteristics from 59 Hz, when listening to the low frequencies do not seem so limited.

Pros – your legs start dancing
Another representative of the “fast sound” school is System Audio Signature 40. The acoustic systems use drivers developed by the company “from scratch” – an inch tweeter with a DTX acoustic lens, as well as 5.5” midrange driver and woofers with ultra-light diaphragms. 90 dB of sensitivity and 4 Ohms of impedance put a load on the amplifier – but having picked up a good partner, you will get both decent bass and a very fast, rapid-fire rhythmic sound.

Pros – powerful and harmonious performance
The MOFI SourcePoint 888 floorstanding speakers is a breakthrough model from Andrew Jones. 888 in the name means the use of as many as three 8” paper drivers – the first of them uses a coaxial design with a 1.25” soft dome tweeter on HF, the other two voice the bass below 130 Hz. The use of double opposite neodymium magnets with a short coil in a long magnetic gap extends the bass to 32 Hz, and the operation of each driver in its own chamber radically reduces resonances. 87 dB of sensitivity scream about a seriously amplifying partner, but having pumped up the speakers properly, you will get a truly charming and soulful sound.

Pros - attract the eye and ear
Davis Acoustics THE STAGE belongs to the Heritage line and uses the developments of the Davis Acoustics The Wall. Do not be fooled by the vintage appearance, the model plays sharply and emotionally, immediately taking off. A Kevlar 250 mm wide-range driver with a TiCoNal (Alnico) magnet and an inch proprietary cone tweeter with a metal diffuser provide a frequency response from 40 Hz. The amplification load will also not be high - the sensitivity equals 91.5 dB, impedance – 6 Ohm.

Pros – it is impossible to find fault with the sound
The latest acoustic systems T + A Criterion S 230 open the next line of acoustics of the famous German company. Using the developments of the top Solitaire speakers, T + A Criterion S 230 achieve magical realism in sound, providing exceptionally dry and detailed bass, well-developed midrange frequencies and excellent highs. The speaker circuit is Symmetric Directivity Design from T + A, it uses two midrange drivers and one tweeter to reduce reflections. The inch tweeter is made of magnesium alloy, a 6” driver works at the midrange, and the MultiResonator transmission line with 6.75” woofers is responsible for bass notes from 29 Hz. 87 dB of sensitivity and 4 Ohms of impedance require attention to the selection amplifier.
