7. Wharfedale Diamond 12.4i

The Wharfedale Diamond 12.4i continues the traditions of the company's renowned "twelfth" platform, only at a new level of quality for what is, by modern standards, a rather modest price (for speakers of this size). Optimized cabinets with improved damping and redesigned bass reflex ports, proprietary 6.5" Wharfedale Klarity mid/bass drivers with diaphragms made from a polypropylene and mica blend (achieving maximum rigidity at minimum mass) with powerful magnet systems - everything here is done right. The specifications are excellent too: frequency response from 40 Hz to 20,000 Hz, sensitivity of 89 dB, and 8-ohm impedance - your amplifier won't break a sweat. The sound leans slightly dark, with deep, weighty bass and a dense presentation.

6.  Canton GLE 90 S2

The new generation of GLE speakers - the Canton GLE 90 S2. From the very first chords, this model commands your attention: the sound is highly precise, dynamic, with a meticulously balanced rhythmic pattern and maximum airiness. Cabinet finish and design are also top-notch. Substantial 7.6" woofers and 6.8" midrange drivers paired with a one-inch dome deliver a rated frequency response extending down to 20 Hz (!!!) with 4-8 ohm impedance and an impressive 90.5 dB sensitivity.

5. Emotiva Nostala LB12

The Emotiva Nostala LB12 speakers feature a retro design - but thanks to this form factor, the model accommodates a substantial 12" woofer with a classic paper cone diaphragm. Paired with Emotiva's proprietary HyperDome midrange driver and a silk dome tweeter, this ensemble delivers a grand presentation with deep, velvety bass and a truly analog character. With 91 dB sensitivity and 8-ohm impedance, the frequency response spans 40 Hz to 32,000 Hz.

SVS Ultra Evolution Titan

4. SVS Ultra Evolution Titan

The SVS Ultra Evolution Titan represents the flagship speaker series from this well-known American company. The model features cabinets with a curved front baffle designed to align the radiation points vertically, ensuring time-coherent driver integration. The tweeter, with its aluminum dome and diamond coating equipped with an "organic cell" grille, looks like a genuine work of art - while the bass drivers have been carried over from the company's legendary subwoofers. Their cones are made from fiberglass composite. The crossovers employ premium-grade capacitors and air-core inductors - there is nothing to fault here. With a rated frequency response of 27 Hz to 40,000 Hz, 6-ohm impedance, and 88 dB sensitivity, you will need to put some thought into amplification - but the truly "big" and expansive sound of these speakers will reward you handsomely.

Davis Acoustics THE PLEDGE

3. Davis Acoustics THE PLEDGE

The Davis Acoustics THE PLEDGE is a three-way floorstanding speaker operating from 40 Hz to 30,000 Hz with 4-ohm impedance and 91 dB sensitivity. Nominal power handling is 110 watts with peaks up to 150 watts - filling even a large room will not be a problem. The driver complement is, of course, proprietary: a 20 mm tweeter with a Kevlar diaphragm, a matching Kevlar 5" midrange, and a 6.5" woofer with a cellulose cone. The bass reflex port is rear-firing, so placement close to the wall is not recommended. The sound is strikingly beautiful - full of charm, polish, and wonderfully rich timbres.

2. Gauder Akustik Capello 80 AL

The new Capello series and its standout representatives, the Gauder Akustik Capello 80 AL, are genuinely innovative floorstanding loudspeakers. Every element of the speaker has been essentially re-engineered to achieve ideal sound reproduction. The standard aluminum tweeters can be upgraded to advanced beryllium versions, substantial 7" drivers covering the remaining frequency range ensure response down to 28 Hz, and the teardrop-shaped cabinet eliminates diffraction artifacts. A sensitivity of 90 dB at 4-ohm impedance and power handling up to 190 watts complete the picture. The effort has paid off - the Gauder Akustik Capello 80 AL literally pulls back the veil to reveal a river of real music.

1. MBL 101 E MKII

The MBL 101 E MKII is the further evolution of the MBL 101, a speaker that has achieved cult status among audiophiles. It employs the Radialstrahler omnidirectional radiation concept, which creates a 360-degree sound field and literally materializes musicians in your listening room. Once you have heard this, there is no going back. Three radial transducers (high-frequency, midrange, and upper bass) are crafted from carbon petals and complemented by a traditional 12" dynamic aluminum woofer in a band-pass enclosure. The speakers play from 24 Hz to 40,000 Hz - but at 82 dB sensitivity, they require a true "welding machine" for amplification. Fortunately, the company manufactures just such high-current, reference-grade amplifiers.
