We
continue our series of publications about truly extraordinary audio systems –
and next up is a system that will surprise even seasoned audiophiles. Systems
of this caliber are rare in the world, but its owner isn't resting on his
laurels and is now eagerly awaiting new loudspeakers.
So,
the 60 m² room features full acoustic treatment, the main component of which
are wave-forming speakers crafted from solid walnut. Suppression of unwanted
room resonances is limited to the Absolut – these panels are located on each of
the four walls of the room, and the floor and ceiling are also acoustically
treated.
All
electronics in the system are based on the top-of-the-line CH Precision 10
Series. A pair of CH Precision M10 Stereo Power Amplifiers with remote power
supplies, a CH Precision L10 Dual Monaural Twin-Chassis Line Preamplifier, a CH
Precision P10 Dual Monaural Twin-Chassis Phono-Stage phono preamplifier, and a
CH Precision C10 Digital to Analog Converter—their magnificence is truly
mind-boggling. Add a TechDAS Air Force One Premium turntable in a dual-tonearm
configuration with top-of-the-line Zyx OPUS 1 cartridges, and all that's left
is to describe the speakers.
The
goal was to achieve absolute quality, surpassing that of contemporary brands.
Thus, a four-unit configuration with remote active subwoofers, each controlling
10 woofers, was born. The system, controlled via a digital crossover, is
connected to the main speakers, which will soon be replaced with completely new
ones using diamond drivers in both the high and midrange (and housed in carbon
fiber enclosures). For now, a temporary solution, housed in inert aluminum
enclosures, is being presented.
From
the very first chords, the system captivates with its breathtaking vibrancy and
richness of nuance – its micro- and macrodynamic characteristics seem
impeccable, even without any allowance for the "temporary" acoustic
solution. After the speaker upgrade, the system will undoubtedly enter the
Golden Pantheon of modern, ultimate sound.
