WADAX Studio DAC Collection Debuts at High End Vienna 2026

Spanish Ultra High End audio brand WADAX presented its new WADAX Studio DAC Collection at High End Vienna 2026, expanding the Studio line with a modular digital playback system built around separate DAC and digital transport components. The new components complement the Studio series, which already includes the complete WADAX Studio Player, Studio Clock, Studio PSU and Akasa DC cables.

At the heart of the new range is the WADAX Studio DAC – an external digital-to-analogue converter that incorporates the streaming functions previously available in the Studio Player and is complemented by new monaural DAC modules with the company’s proprietary RAXA technology. According to WADAX, the revised DAC architecture is intended to reduce noise levels and improve overall system performance.

The Studio DAC also marks WADAX’s first step into the field of dedicated headphone amplification. The device is equipped with a headphone output stage featuring both a single-ended jack connector and a balanced 4-pin XLR output, allowing it to be used with a wide range of headphones.

The connectivity options of the WADAX Studio DAC include AES, BNC, RCA and Toslink digital inputs. The new model supports Qobuz Connect, TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect, Roon Ready, UPnP, Audirvana, JPLAY and Apple AirPlay. In addition, the unit features WADAX’s proprietary Akasa Optical connection for linking it to the new WADAX Studio Transport and future models in the Studio series.

Alongside the external DAC, WADAX also introduced the WADAX Studio Transport at the show – a dedicated SACD/CD transport that uses technologies derived from the flagship Reference Transport. It is equipped with the WADAX THORstudio optical reading mechanism with DWC technology and connects to the Studio DAC via the Akasa Optical interface.

According to WADAX, the Studio DAC Collection is conceived as a scalable ecosystem with ten levels of performance. Users will be able to gradually build and upgrade their system by combining the Studio DAC, Studio Transport, Studio Clock, Studio PSU and Akasa DC cable solutions.

The recommended retail price of the WADAX Studio DAC is US$42,950, while the Studio Transport is priced at US$39,500.
