SME has unveiled its new Model 8 turntable, which the company says is an “entry ticket” into high-quality analogue sound (available in white, navy or black, with an SME Series 309 tonearm, it will retail for £9,999).
The SME Model 8 is a completely redesigned version of the SME Model 6. It features a high-density polymer plinth and a massive platter, increasing the overall mass of the system by 40%. SME claims the Model 8 “delivers exceptional stability and resonance control”, with larger adjustable anti-vibration feet and improved tonearm base to minimise vibration.
Accuracy and speed consistency are improved by using the control unit from the SME Model 60 turntable. The SME Model 8 also benefits from replacing the Model 6's old M2-9 tonearm with the SME 309 magnesium tonearm, which features Crystal Cable wiring, a removable headshell and gold-plated WBT RCA connectors. Full specs coming soon.

Last year, Goldmund launched the impressive Goldmund Rhea and Theia acoustics in active versions with a wireless streamer. The all-in-one solution certainly looked brilliant, but High-End fans often prefer component systems. So now the company has introduced the Goldmund Rhea and Theia loudspeakers in a Passive version.
