Australian loudspeaker manufacturer Richter Audio has introduced the new Series 7 Special Edition (S7SE) range, timed to coincide with the company’s upcoming 40th anniversary. In developing the Series 7 Special Edition, Richter Audio set out to solve a familiar challenge: to create loudspeakers owners would be just as proud to display in their interiors as they are of their sound quality. The result is a lineup that blends naturally into modern living spaces while preserving the power, precision, and emotional engagement the brand is known for.
Developed in collaboration with industrial designer Adam Hobbs and acoustical engineer Dr Martin Gosnell, the Richter S7SE series features a smoother, more contemporary cabinet form. Beyond aesthetics, the revised geometry is intended to reduce unwanted resonances and give the drivers more freedom – so the music can “breathe” and unfold more naturally, while maintaining the acoustic coherence Richter Audio has always treated as a priority.

The loudspeakers’ natural walnut-veneer finish underscores the shift toward a more refined industrial design: home-friendly appeal combined with Richter’s traditional focus on musical expressiveness. This reinforces the brand’s intention to create loudspeakers that live comfortably in real living spaces, not only in dedicated listening rooms.
The Richter Series 7 Special Edition lineup comprises four models, three of which will go on sale in February: the Wizard S7SE and Dragon S7SE floorstanders, and the flagship Excalibur S7SE. An interesting bookshelf model, the Aurora S7SE, is currently in the final stages of development and is expected to reach the market in the second quarter of 2026.

Across the range, Richter Audio has implemented newly developed in-house drivers, updated cabinets, and the latest version of its SE Teardrop tweeter paired with a 70mm dome midrange driver. The emphasis is on clarity, control, and emotional involvement rather than on “headline” numbers in the specifications.
The key technical change is the move to a dedicated dome driver for the critically important upper midrange. According to Richter Audio, this approach improves vocal intelligibility and instrumental texture, and also helps achieve a smoother integration with the tweeter and bass section.

The Wizard S7SE models use a 3½-way design, the Dragon S7SE is a true 4-way loudspeaker, and the Excalibur S7SE tops the range with a complex 4.5-way configuration – aimed at delivering a large-scale sound in bigger rooms without sacrificing focus and coherence.
All models in the series feature new mid/bass drivers with light, rigid cones in cast-aluminium baskets, as well as bass drivers with larger voice coils and increased excursion. The crossovers have also been upgraded, using multi-stage networks with separate circuits for each driver – for better integration and phase coherence.
