QUAD has launched serial production of the QUAD ESL 2812X and QUAD ESL 2912X acoustic systems – the sixth generation of branded speakers replaces the ESL 2812 and ESL 2912, released in 2012. The models will go on sale in August 2025.
The new QUAD ESL 2812X and ESL 2912X acoustic systems use the thinnest Mylar film membrane suspended in an electrostatic field between two stators – this design voices the entire frequency response range. Electrostatic speakers designed according to this principle are distinguished by minimal distortion and a very fast sound signature. It is especially important that the QUAD ESL 2812X and QUAD ESL 2912X do not use dynamic drivers at all - and the bass notes are also voiced by an electrostatic panel.
The QUAD ESL 2812X and QUAD ESL 2912X use a concentric ring arrangement of electrodes. This configuration allows for the formation of radiation with a point source, which improves the sound picture. The new speakers are distinguished by improved panel assembly accuracy, and the processes of sputtering, etching and tensioning of the diaphragm have also been improved.
Instead of one printed circuit board, three separate modules are now used: for high voltage multiplication, for control and protection, and for processing a low-voltage signal. This separation reduces interaction between circuits, increases stability and reduces noise. The audio transformers in both models have been redesigned.
The younger model QUAD ESL 2812X is 107 cm high and is equipped with four electrostatic panels, which makes it suitable for medium-sized rooms. The QUAD ESL 2912X, at 147 cm tall with six panels, is aimed at large venues. Both models are housed in composite aluminum and steel housings and feature a dipole configuration with a fixed 3° tilt. The QUAD ESL 2812X will be available for $14,995 USD or €13,999 EUR, while the QUAD ESL 2912X will be available for $17,995 USD or €16,999 EUR.

Musical Fidelity has launched serial production of the new integrated amplifier Musical Fidelity B1xi – a development of the well-known Musical Fidelity B1 model from the 90s of the twentieth century.
VAF Research – has released the VAF DC 2S bookshelf loudspeakers – with a relatively affordable retail price of 1,699 Australian dollars, the model accumulates many years of experience of the company (founded in 1978) in audio and offers a sophisticated sound. Each pair of speakers is hand-assembled in Adelaide.
Pro-Ject Audio Systems has released another plug-n-play turntable – the Pro-Ject E1.2. The model comes with a factory-installed tonearm, MM cartridge and dust cover. In addition, the buyer can choose one of three (black, white walnut) finishes – and all this for 329 euros retail.
The Monitor Audio company has provided the seventh generation of the Bronze series - Bronze 7G, which includes five models of acoustic systems. Let us remind you that the first Monitor Audio Bronze loudspeakers entered the market in 1999.
The recently announced OePhi Lounge 2 and OePhi Lounge 2.5 speaker systems have gone on sale. The first model is designed as a bookshelf speaker and is aimed at small rooms, while the larger second speaker (made in a 2.5-way scheme), made in a floor-standing form factor, easily works even in large rooms.
