PureAudioProject Unveils Quartet15 Open-Baffle Floorstanding Speakers

American audio manufacturer PureAudioProject has announced a new open-baffle floorstanding loudspeaker, the Quartet15. The speakers will make their public debut at the Southwest Audio Fest, which will take place in Dallas from July 23 to 25. The new model draws on the company’s 14 years of experience in developing open-baffle loudspeakers and will expand its Line15 family.

The PureAudioProject Quartet15 is designed primarily for medium-sized and large rooms. Each loudspeaker is equipped with two proprietary 15-inch bass drivers featuring paper cones. A specially developed 10-inch driver handles the mid-bass range, while a 5-inch Voxativ AF-2.6 full-range driver reproduces the upper part of the frequency spectrum. According to the company, the use of paper cones across all frequency bands is intended to ensure consistent tonal character.

Frequency distribution is handled by the modular PureAudioProject Thrier crossover. It uses a three-way design with first-order filters. The crossover incorporates Mundorf MCAP EVO Silver Gold Oil capacitors. One of the system’s key features is that owners can replace individual crossover components themselves and experiment with alternative parts according to their personal preferences.

The Quartet15 retains the modular architecture characteristic of PureAudioProject products. Buyers will be offered several panel finish options, including painted MDF, Valchromat HDF panels, three-layer bamboo, and solid American walnut, oak or maple.

The loudspeakers have a claimed in-room sensitivity of more than 96 dB and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms. The specified frequency response extends from approximately 29 – 32 Hz to 20 kHz. The weight of each speaker depends on the selected material and starts at 36 kg. To ensure proper operation of the open-baffle design, the manufacturer recommends positioning the speakers between 60 and 106 cm from the rear wall.

The PureAudioProject Quartet15 will be supplied as a flat-pack system, with final assembly to be completed by the owner. According to the manufacturer, only an Allen key is required to assemble the main frame, while a standard screwdriver is needed to connect the crossover. All components are manufactured in the United States and the European Union before being shipped directly to customers.

At the Southwest Audio Fest, the new speakers will be demonstrated as part of a system featuring Opera Consonance Reference 5.5i MkII and Linear 845 integrated amplifiers. The setup will also include a Well Tempered Lab Versalex turntable, a Dynavector Prima cartridge, a LAIV Harmony digital-to-analogue converter and Silversmith Fidelium cables.

The price of the PureAudioProject Quartet15 loudspeakers will depend on the selected finish and component configuration. The starting price will be approximately $18,000 per pair.
