Morel has introduced the Morel Sopran 622 bookshelf loudspeakers, which are the most compact model in the Sopran lineup. The new speakers are built using advanced materials, including carbon-fiber composite diaphragms, enlarged titanium voice coils, and neodymium magnets. This is a two-way system designed for music lovers who want reference-level sound quality without filling the room with large floorstanding speakers.

The Morel Sopran 622 loudspeakers are equipped with drivers developed and manufactured by Morel itself. High frequencies are handled by the Morel Acuflex tweeter with a 1.1-inch soft dome – a signature feature of the brand. The rest of the frequency range is reproduced by a 6-inch driver with a carbon-fiber diaphragm featuring a honeycomb structure, providing an exceptional stiffness-to-weight ratio. In practice, this results in fast transient response, low coloration, and bass that remains tight and articulate even at high volume levels. The crossover frequency is set at 2.2 kHz.

The enclosure of the Morel Sopran 622 is reinforced with internal braces manufactured using CNC machines, significantly reducing unwanted resonances. The result is an acoustically inert cabinet that does not color the sound.

A rear-mounted bass reflex port allows the Morel Sopran 622 to deliver deeper bass than one might expect given the speakers’ compact dimensions. The manufacturer-specified frequency response extends from 45 to 18,000 Hz (±1.5 dB). Each speaker weighs an impressive 16 kg, which says a lot about build quality even before the music starts playing. With a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and a sensitivity of 88 dB, the Morel Sopran 622 will appreciate a powerful amplifier, while remaining relatively easy to drive. Paired with a muscular partner, the speakers deliver scale, full control, and excellent dynamic headroom. The nominal power handling is rated at 180 W RMS, with a peak power handling of an impressive 750 W, highlighting the robustness of the drivers used.

The Morel Sopran 622 bookshelf speakers are available in a variety of finishes, including painted surfaces and natural wood veneer, as well as several combinations of wood and epoxy resin. Depending on the finish, pricing ranges from $5,999 to $6,499 per pair.
