Matrix Audio, a company specializing in premium audio equipment, has introduced new models within its compact N series. The already available NT-1 digital music transport is now joined by the ND-1 external digital-to-analog converter and the NA-1 headphone amplifier. The manufacturer envisions the complete system as a desktop setup, complemented by another new addition – the modular TEMPO DX RACK stand.
The N series is conceived as a complete ecosystem in which the transport, DAC, and headphone amplifier with preamplifier functionality were designed from the outset as complementary components. According to Matrix Audio, this lineup combines broad functionality, a high level of engineering execution, and impeccable build quality, meeting the expectations of audiophiles who value purity, precision, and uncompromising sound. The appearance of the components follows the company’s signature Matrix Design concept.

The Matrix Audio ND-1 is an external premium DAC developed with an emphasis on achieving the highest possible quality in digital signal conversion. Following the idea of “simplifying the complex,” the engineers focused on the key task of accurate and correct decoding of musical material. The unit is built around a dual-DAC-chip architecture, where carefully thought-out circuit design is combined with meticulous professional tuning. As a result, according to the manufacturer, the ND-1 delivers transparent, clean, and expressive sound, allowing it to reveal more of a recording’s detail and convey the emotional nuances of the music.

The new Matrix Audio NA-1 is a headphone amplifier featuring a fully balanced design and a Class A amplification stage built from discrete components. The design includes four independent amplification modules, which are intended to provide high power reserves, precise control, low distortion, and effective suppression of common-mode noise. The model is designed to work with various types of headphones, with differing sensitivity and impedance. In addition, the Matrix Audio NA-1 can also be used as a preamplifier, for example in a system with an external power amplifier or active loudspeakers, making it a versatile solution for different listening scenarios.

The Matrix Audio NT-1 digital music transport, which debuted in March 2025, has already gained notable recognition in the market, including among experienced and demanding listeners. In combination with the new ND-1 and NA-1, it forms a complete desktop audio system built around a unified concept.

To accommodate the components, the company also introduced the Matrix Audio TEMPO DX RACK stand. Its modular design requires no tools for assembly. Users can add or remove levels as needed, with support for up to four tiers depending on the system configuration. The dimensions of the stand are designed so that it can conveniently house the full flagship N series system, including the NT-1, ND-1, NA-1, and the external SC-1 master clock.
