MartinLogan Grotto 12 and Grotto 15 – 2 kW of bass power

MartinLogan has released the MartinLogan Grotto 12 and Grotto 15 active subwoofers – the top of the company's current lineup. The new subwoofers are positioned higher than the well-known Abyss models and offer up to 2 kW of peak power.

The MartinLogan Grotto 12 boasts a frequency response of 22–120 Hz (±3 dB) and 12" drivers controlled by a 500 MHz Vojtko DSP Engine with 64-bit signal processing. The MartinLogan Grotto 15 offers a wider frequency response of 20–120 Hz (±3 dB) and 15" drivers, plus the same 500 MHz Vojtko DSP Engine.

The heart of both subwoofers is the Hybrid Woofer System, featuring an aluminum-cone woofer and two passive aluminum radiators. This design, combined with the closed-box acoustic design, combines the low-frequency performance benefits of a bass-reflex design with the bass control benefits of a sealed-box configuration. Amplification is provided by the proprietary Magnitude MT-2kW, capable of delivering up to 2 kW peak power or 1 kW RMS.

The Grotto subwoofer enclosures are constructed of 1-inch-thick MDF panels with reinforced fronts and central bracing. Anti-vibration mounts and a built-in wireless connectivity module are also included. The Grotto subwoofers also support the Anthem Room Correction (ARC) system, which adjusts the sound according to the acoustic characteristics of the room.

The new MartinLogan Grotto subwoofers are now available. The 12-inch Grotto 12 model is priced at $2,299.99, while the larger Grotto 15 subwoofer is priced at $2,799.99.
