JBL Completes the Summit Series with New Everest and K2 Flagships

JBL presented two new top-tier loudspeaker systems at High End Vienna 2026 – the JBL Summit Everest and JBL Summit K2. These models became the final additions to the Summit line, which had already included the Summit Makalu, Summit Pumori and Summit Ama. In this way, the brand has effectively completed the formation of its new premium home loudspeaker series.

The JBL Summit line holds a special status for the company. It has become the fifth series in JBL history to receive the Project designation. Previously, this status had been assigned only to the brand’s most important and iconic developments, including the Hartsfield, Paragon, Project Everest and Project K2.

The main new model is the JBL Summit Everest, a large 3.5-way floorstanding loudspeaker system. In the high-frequency range, it uses three 2-inch D2820 compression drivers with dual diaphragms and dual motors. They are combined through a special 3-into-1 acoustic manifold and loaded onto a large-format Sonoglass HDI horn.

The mid-bass section of the Summit Everest is built around two 10-inch Differential Drive transducers. Low frequencies are handled by two 15-inch woofers with cast frames. These drivers use a three-layer Hybrid Carbon Cellulose Composite Cone, which JBL refers to as HC4.

The claimed operating range of the JBL Summit Everest extends from 20 Hz to more than 23 kHz. The loudspeaker’s sensitivity reaches 96 dB, its nominal impedance is 4 ohms, while the minimum drops to 2.7 ohms. The manufacturer recommends using amplifiers rated from 25 to 1,200 watts. One loudspeaker weighs an imposing 237.2 kg.

The second model presented, the JBL Summit K2, sits one step below the Everest but also belongs to the flagship segment. It is a 3-way floorstanding loudspeaker system with one 15-inch Differential Drive woofer, a 10-inch mid-bass transducer and three 1.5-inch D2815 compression drivers working together with a Sonoglass HDI horn.

For the JBL Summit K2, the specified frequency range is 25 Hz to 23.5 kHz. The model’s sensitivity is 92 dB, its nominal impedance is 4 ohms, and its minimum impedance is 3.27 ohms. The recommended amplifier power ranges from 25 to 600 watts. Despite its more compact construction compared with the Everest, one K2 loudspeaker weighs 108.4 kg.

Both loudspeaker systems feature MultiCap crossovers, support for bi-wiring and tri-wiring, internal wiring made from silver-plated oxygen-free copper, and IsoAcoustics vibration-isolation feet. The recommended price of the JBL Summit Everest is $159,990 per pair, while the JBL Summit K2 is priced at $99,990 per pair. Sales of the new models are expected to begin later in 2026.
