In developing the DX4000CL full-size headphones, Japanese company Final focused on combining good sound isolation, precision, and a more open presentation than one would normally expect from closed-back models. The new model is aimed at demanding listeners who need a serious tool for thoughtful music listening.

The main idea behind the Final DX4000CL headphones is to bring the presentation of closed-back headphones closer to a more open and natural manner of sound reproduction. The manufacturer aims to preserve the strong advantages of a closed-back design, including solid bass response and effective sound isolation, while reducing the feeling of a confined soundstage.

At the heart of the model is a new wideband dynamic driver with a 40 mm composite diaphragm made of paper and carbon fiber. This combination of materials is intended to help reduce resonances, increase structural rigidity, and make the response more precise. In addition, a free-edge design is used to improve diaphragm control and reduce distortion. To minimize internal reflections that can color the sound, Final employs a system of built-in diffusers in the rear chamber of the earcups. This solution is intended to make the sound cleaner and the stereo image more stable and natural.
The headphones are fitted with earpads approximately 30 mm thick, made of memory foam and synthetic leather. They are designed not only for comfort during long listening sessions, but also to influence the final sonic tuning. The design also simplifies maintenance, as the earpads can be replaced without tools.

The Final DX4000CL full-size closed-back headphones come supplied with a detachable silver-plated cable featuring a balanced 4.4 mm Pentaconn connector, as well as an adapter to a 6.3 mm jack plug for connection to home Hi-Fi systems. The model weighs about 375 grams without the cable. The new product is expected to go on sale in Europe in the second quarter of 2026 at a price of 999 euros.
