Exposure has released the new Exposure DAC, a digital-to-analog converter with digital preamplifier functionality.
This model can handle PCM signals up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD signals up to DSD256, while connectivity options include seven S/PDIF inputs and a USB-B port. Among the analog outputs (in addition to RCA), there's also an XLR output—with a fixed or adjustable level depending on the settings. Performance characteristics are impressive: output impedance is 50 ohms, THD is less than 0.0025%, and signal-to-noise ratio is over 115 dB.
With a 99-step digital volume control, the Exposure DAC can be connected directly to a power amplifier or active speakers. Owners can choose between an adjustable output for volume control or a fixed output for use with a traditional preamplifier. A custom, fully shielded toroidal transformer paired with a low-noise power supply are the icing on the cake of this exquisite design.
The Exposure DAC uses an aluminum enclosure, providing excellent vibration damping and additional shielding for the signal path. The retail price is £2,500.
