Cayin has released the new Cayin Soul 170C vacuum tube preamplifier, the perfect complement to the recently announced Soul 170P stereo vacuum tube power amplifier. The Cayin Soul 170C preamplifier utilizes point-to-point wiring, minimizing signal loss and crosstalk. The signal path utilizes audiophile-grade components, including silver-plated terminals, premium capacitors, a motorized ALPS volume control, and a hand-wound transformer.
The Cayin Soul 170C preamplifier utilizes eight vacuum tubes – four for each of the two channels – including ECC83, 6SN7GTB, 6CA7, and 17AX4GT. The power supply utilizes a vacuum tube rectifier with a 17AX4GT. Separate voltage regulation is implemented using 6CA7 vacuum tubes. The use of ECC83 and 6SN7GTB vacuum tubes for signal amplification ensures minimal distortion and an extended frequency response (8 Hz to 35,000 Hz for XLR input and 8 Hz to 100,000 Hz for RCA), as well as an excellent signal-to-noise ratio of 100 dB.
Two selectable negative feedback stages allow for fine-tuning the sound to the specific needs of the amplifier and speakers. Low negative feedback provides an open sound, while high negative feedback ensures a controlled and focused presentation. The Cayin Soul 170C retails for €4,490 in Europe.
