Canor Virtus I4S – Integrated Amplifier from the Foundation Series

Slovak audio equipment manufacturer Canor Audio has unveiled the stylish Foundation series of electronic components, with its first two representatives being the Virtus I4S integrated amplifier and the Verto D4S DAC. Both devices feature discrete circuitry and come with modern touch control and practical connection options for ambitious music lovers. The combination of glass, aluminum, and steel emphasizes the high ambitions of the new Foundation lineup while also providing a robust, resonance-free chassis construction.

Canor Audio Virtus I4S is an elegant integrated solid-state amplifier equipped with a phono stage and a high-quality headphone amplifier built with discrete components. The amplifier’s output stages operate in Class AB and are implemented entirely with discrete components.

The specified power output of the Canor Virtus I4S integrated amplifier is 2 × 75 W into a nominal 8-ohm load (2 × 120 W into 4 ohms). According to the developers, this provides sufficient power reserve, including for demanding loudspeaker systems. For connecting a vinyl turntable, the amplifier includes a built-in phono stage compatible with both MM and MC cartridges, with switchable gain (40/46 dB for MM, 60/66 dB for MC).

The connectivity arsenal of the Canor Virtus I4S includes two unbalanced RCA inputs, one balanced XLR input, and the phono stage input. A variable RCA output makes it easy to connect an active subwoofer or an external power amplifier. For headphones, a 6.35 mm jack is provided on the front panel.

A standout feature of the Canor Virtus I4S integrated amplifier is a round 45 mm touch display built into the rotary knob; it provides quick access to all functions and settings. Specially designed heatsinks with heatpipe technology help maintain a stable operating temperature for the output stages. The chassis made of aluminum, steel, and glass ensures high mechanical rigidity, effective shielding, and creates a recognizable, minimalist visual identity for the amplifier.
