Burson Audio has introduced the Timekeeper Voyager mono power amplifiers, operating in Class AB and delivering up to 200 watts per channel into a 4 Ohm load. The Timekeeper series of amplifiers has been in development at Burson Audio for over fifteen years. The latest Voyager model is designed to operate at high idle current, allowing the transistors to operate in their most linear range, thereby minimizing distortion. Despite consuming over 100 Watts in standby mode, the Voyager achieves Class AB performance in a compact design, rivaling much larger amplifiers.
Burson Audio has implemented a number of proprietary technologies in this model, including an upgraded MCPS (Max Current Power Supply) system equipped with Silent Power 02 (SP02) regulators, a discrete input buffer using Supreme Sound V7 Vivid operational amplifiers, an output stage operating on EXICON MOSFET transistors, a Cool Case enclosure and the ability to choose between external Super Charger or Fusion Core power supplies. An interesting feature of the Burson Timekeeper Voyager is its Class A input buffer - it uses discrete Supreme Sound V7 Vivid operational amplifiers, providing an input signal gain of 6 dB.
The standard Burson Timekeeper Voyager amplifier model comes with compact 32V/7A Super Charger external power supplies. For those looking for the ultimate in performance, the manufacturer offers a premium Max version that includes 32V/15A Fusion Core power supplies. Burson Audio claims that this power supply allows the amplifier to reach its maximum capabilities.
The manufacturer describes the Fusion Core as a sophisticated power supply that uses GaN (gallium nitride) transistors. These transistors operate at a frequency that is ten times higher than conventional silicon MOSFETs, which results in improved noise filtering and, as a result, cleaner sound and lower noise levels in recordings.
Burson Timekeeper Voyager all-in-ones are offered in pairs in two versions - a standard configuration with Super Charger power supplies (32V/7A) for $5,800, and a full configuration with Fusion Core power supplies (32V/15A) for $7,000.
