Burmester 259 – a Power Amplifier for Ultimate-class Systems

Burmester has introduced the 259 power amplifier, which the company itself describes as a “quiet revolution”. The new model was first shown in September 2025: in keeping with Burmester tradition, the year and month of its debut are reflected in the model name. The unit is now ready to be integrated into music systems of the highest class.

The Burmester 259 is designed to confidently drive even loudspeaker systems that require serious control from the amplifier. At the same time, the manufacturer emphasizes not only power, but also its signature presentation: the amplifier is intended to preserve ease, clarity and naturalness of sound even in the most complex musical passages.

One of the key features claimed for the model is an extremely low noise level — below the threshold of audibility. Combined with improved linearity and reduced distortion, this allows the amplifier to reveal more microdetail, open up a deeper soundstage and preserve the nuances of the recording with greater precision. The Burmester 259 handles both large-scale dynamic surges and the subtlest shades of performance with equal confidence.

A substantial power reserve and a high damping factor help the amplifier maintain stable control even over demanding loads. According to the manufacturer, increased impulse power and revised circuitry take the 259 to a new level among modern power amplifiers.

Burmester’s engineering approach is also evident in the unit’s construction. The massive enclosure helps ensure effective heat dissipation and protects the internal circuits from electromagnetic interference. Inside the amplifier, the output transistors are mounted on a solid copper base, power is supplied by an impressive bank of capacitors, and the internal wiring is arranged with particular attention to the shortest and most stable signal path to the loudspeaker terminals.

he Burmester 259 is available in both stereo and mono versions. The monaural configuration provides additional power reserves and even more precise channel separation. The set of connectors on the rear panel depends on the chosen version.

Externally, the amplifier continues Burmester’s recognizable design language. The manufacturer emphasizes that, in the 259, technical rigor is combined with the aesthetics of a premium component intended for the most refined interiors. Buyers are offered two finish options: the classic silver housing with chrome elements and an all-black version made of anodized aluminium.
