Bang & Olufsen has introduced two more special versions of its flagship Beolab 90 loudspeaker – the Monarch Edition and the Zenith Edition. Both new models have been released as part of the anniversary Atelier series created to mark the Danish brand’s 100th anniversary, and they complete the lineup of five limited-edition versions, which previously included Titan, Shadow, and Mirage.
These new variants should not be seen as mere cosmetic modifications. Bang & Olufsen is aiming for more than rarity alone, rethinking the Beolab 90 itself through materials, finishes, and craftsmanship. Each version will be produced in a run of just 10 pairs, immediately giving them the status of collector’s pieces.

The Beolab 90 Monarch Edition draws on the legacy of Danish furniture design. Its appearance features curved and angled rosewood lamellas, precisely integrated into the architecture of the aluminum cabinet. Thanks to this approach, the loudspeaker is perceived not only as a high-tech audio component, but also as a striking interior object with a soft, sculptural sense of form.

The company notes that in the Monarch Edition, the rhythm of the wooden elements, the solid rosewood ring, and the expressive contrast between natural wood and warm ochre-toned aluminum details all play a key role. Semi-transparent textile inserts partially reveal the drivers, linking the decorative aspect with the functional one.
By contrast, the Beolab 90 Zenith Edition is built around a different artistic idea – a play of reflections, light, and complex surface texture. The main visual motif here is formed by thousands of anodized aluminum spheres, complemented by delicate mother-of-pearl accents. As a result, the loudspeaker takes on an almost museum-like, sculptural character.

Each of the six panels in the Zenith Edition includes 289 aluminum spheres, finished in a specially selected palette with pearl-inspired associations. The front panel has received a dark gray finish reminiscent of the inner surface of an oyster shell, while the top section of the cabinet is crowned by a circular mother-of-pearl inlay that reinforces the impression of a luxurious artistic object.
Despite their very different external appearances, both limited-edition versions retain the core engineering platform of the standard Beolab 90. At its heart are 18 specially developed drivers and the brand’s proprietary beamforming technology, which makes it possible to control sound directivity. In other words, Bang & Olufsen is not changing the acoustic philosophy of the model, but rather its visual interpretation, placing the familiar flagship in a new aesthetic context.

Bang & Olufsen emphasizes that the anniversary Anniversary Editions were conceived as a demonstration of the capabilities of Atelier, the division responsible for the brand’s bespoke, complex, and unconventional projects. In this sense, the Monarch and Zenith are more than just rare versions of the speaker – they are a statement of what the company can achieve at the intersection of industrial design, craftsmanship, and engineering.
Each pair will be supplied with a certificate of authenticity. In addition, buyers will receive a miniature aluminum Beolab 90 sculpture in the corresponding finish, presented in a specially made aluminum case. This approach further underlines the collector status of these models.
The first public presentations of the Beolab 90 Monarch Edition and Zenith Edition took place at the Bang & Olufsen Culture Store in San Francisco – the brand’s largest showroom in the world. Pricing and availability for the anniversary versions have not yet been announced. For reference, a standard pair of Bang & Olufsen Beolab 90 speakers in black, aluminum, or oak finish is priced at €167,200 or $211,800, and there is little doubt that the limited anniversary editions will cost considerably more.
