CH Precision 10 Series and Kroma Atelier Irya Bi-Amp System

Kroma Atelier Irya Bi-Amp floorstanders from Granada take their signal here from a full CH Precision 10 Series stack, the M10 power amplifier, L10 line preamplifier, C10 DAC with network input, T10 master clock and P10 phono stage. Records turn on a TechDAS Air Force IV air-bearing deck fitted with a Dynavector XV Ultima moving coil, so this demonstration gives streams and vinyl equal weight.

The system at a glance

Counting the cartridge there are eight components, and every CH unit except the clock places its supply in a second chassis, so the electronics alone fill nine boxes. The P10 lists at USD 76,000 in twin-chassis form, and the deck carried a UK price of GBP 19,998 at launch, so the full chain sits in the highest price class. It suits a large room and an owner who plays files and records in equal measure.

Why these components work together

Kroma rates the Irya at 91 dB and 4 ohm, with a range of 19 Hz to 27 kHz and a suggested power window of 30 to 1,000 W. Two AMT tweeters, two 6.5 inch and two 10 inch anodised aluminium cones fill a 162 cm cabinet of 130 kg, and the Bi-Amp version takes two amplifier channels per speaker. The M10 is a class AB design giving 300 W into 8 ohm, 550 W into 4 ohm and 900 W into 2 ohm per channel, it can be set up for bi-amping, and global feedback adjusts in 1 percent steps to match each driver section. The C10 converts through sixteen R-2R networks of the PCM-1704 type after 64 times upsampling, and its Ethernet board acts as a Roon Ready endpoint. Its output level is switchable rather than variable, so the L10 handles volume across -99.5 dB to +18 dB. The T10 sends a 10 MHz reference from an OCXO through six transformer-coupled BNC outputs. The XV Ultima delivers 0.32 mV from a 24 ohm coil through a 6 mm solid boron cantilever, and the P10 answers with two current-sensing MC inputs and 45 to 78 dB of gain in 3 dB steps. The deck floats an 8.7 kg platter on air and clamps the record by vacuum.

How it sounds

With two 10 inch woofers per side and an amplifier with large reserves into low impedance, the low end carries weight and stays controlled in a large space. The vacuum hold-down and the quiet current-mode phono input leave a dark background, so piano decay and orchestral scale come through on vinyl, while the clocked C10 keeps image placement steady on streamed material.
Considering a similar setup
The 4 ohm load and 130 kg cabinets set the priorities, an amplifier with current to spare and a floor that takes the weight. A bi-amped pair needs four channels, so the amplifier count grows with it. The CH I1 integrated scales the electronics down, and the Air Force V Premium is the larger TechDAS deck.
