TechDAS is a Japanese turntable brand launched in 2010 by Hideaki Nishikawa, a former Micro Seiki engineer who had co-founded the high-end import house Stellavox Japan in 1989. The name stands for Digital Analog Supremacy, and the brand builds only analogue gear, centred on the Air Force series of air-bearing, belt-driven turntables that runs up to the Air Force Zero unveiled in 2019 at about USD 450,000.
Range & what it's known for
The current turntables come in Air Force V, IV, III and One families, several of them in upgraded versions, with the Zero at the top. The original Air Force Two, Air Force III and Air Force V decks are now listed as legacy products. Around the decks sit the Air Force 10 tonearm, the TDC01 Ti and TDC01 Dia cartridges, a platter top, disc stabilisers including a tungsten version, a dedicated mounting rack and Super Linear cables. The engineering signature is the platter floating on an air bearing, paired with vacuum hold-down of the record and a separate drive motor.

TechDAS is a house brand within the Stella group in Japan, the company that grew out of Stellavox Japan and still works as a distributor of high-end audio in the Japanese market. Nishikawa set up a second company, Zephyrn, in 2001 and designed the Air Force turntables personally until his death in June 2023 at the age of 81. Leadership then passed to Tsutomu Horikawa at Stella and Kohei Ando at Zephyrn.
