Soulution 787 Turntable
Soulution 787 Turntable. Image source - (c) Soulution

Soulution 787 Turntable

Pros – precise presentation, a wealth of detail

The Soulution 787 turntable utilizes a linear tracking concept, which utilizes a moving (sliding) platter and a conventional pivoting tonearm, which operates with minimal deflection. This approach reduces tracking error to less than 0.15 degrees. The eight-inch tonearm is mounted on an isolated sub-chassis with a resonance-cancelling system. The platter assembly, with its sintered magnetic bearing and precious metal brush motor, slides laterally beneath the tonearm on polished axles to ensure the tonearm remains aligned along the linear tracking track. The Soulution 787's architecture eliminates the friction and unbalanced forces inherent in tangential tonearms, where the tonearm moves due to lateral forces from the outer edge of the groove to its center. Essentially, the Soulution 787 offers all the benefits of low-friction pivot tonearms, but without the lateral forces, tracking errors, and alignment issues inherent in traditional pivot tonearms. The resulting sound is truly magnificent, with a flurry of previously unheard details.

Gold Note Bellagio Conquest

Gold Note Bellagio Conquest

Pros - excellent scale, perfect black tone in pauses.

The 100-kilogram behemoth of a Gold Note Bellagio Conquest is equipped with a 270-mm spindle made of C40 carbon steel alloy and a remote control unit for the AC synchronous motor. The bearing-to-spindle tolerance is an incredible 1/100th of a millimeter. The model uses a unique design with thirteen different curved plinths designed to achieve maximum rigidity and resonance deflection. The tonearm must be purchased separately, but it's worth the candle; in terms of scale, this turntable has few equals.

Esoteric Grandioso T1

Esoteric Grandioso T1

Pros - three-dimensional soundstage, reference-level detail

The Esoteric Grandioso T1 turntable uses the patented Esoteric MagneDrive System contactless drive with a Magne-Float washer, which inductively synchronizes the rotation of the magnetic drive and platter, reducing spindle bearing friction and reducing the effective platter mass from 19 kg to 4 kg. Sound can be further enhanced by synchronizing the 10 MHz clock rate with an external Grandioso G1X Master Clock. The three-layer aluminum and wood chassis provides excellent vibration damping. The sound is truly luxurious – precise and three-dimensional.

Wilson Benesch GMT One

Wilson Benesch GMT One

Pros – simply one of the best turntables available today

A truly ultimate turntable, the Wilson Benesch GMT One boasts over thirty patented innovations, but the heart of the model is, of course, the Omega Drive magnetic drive. The system uses a synchronous motor, and its RMS torque ripple is as low as 0.001342 Nm, thanks to ALPHA Drive technology, which ensures low torque. A new motor startup algorithm is controlled by a microprocessor that compensates for the significant air gap between the stator and rotor in the OMEGA Drive. The OMEGA Drive then spins up to the desired speed, which is then maintained by the ALPHA Drive microprocessor, which feeds three pure sine waves through three Class A linear amplifiers to the 21 magnetic poles in the OMEGA Drive. The sine wave accuracy is regulated by an onboard 11.2896 MHz quartz crystal oscillator. The player's sound literally transports you to the world of audiophile nirvana.
