Cassettes have made a triumphant return! Having previously released a Walkman-style player, We Are Rewind now unveils the Curtis GB-001 - a ghettoblaster with vintage aesthetics but thoroughly modern internals, including Class D amplification. The animated VU meters complete the retro-perfect aesthetic.

We Are Rewind describes the Curtis GB-001 as a cassette player and recorder capable of rivaling a home audio system. The manufacturer promises exceptional stereo sound with a full stereo image, thanks to two-way speakers for each channel. While classic 1980s boomboxes could only play (and in most cases record) cassettes, the Curtis GB-001 features an analog AUX input and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless connectivity, enabling smartphone streaming. A headphone jack is also included.

Each driver is powered by its own Class D amplifier. According to the manufacturer, total output reaches 104 W, with a frequency range extending from 40 Hz to 20,000 Hz. The cassette deck, however, is limited to 12,500 Hz. This modern ghettoblaster also features a replaceable battery, dynamic power management to reduce distortion, an equalizer for natural sound reproduction, and stereo widening for an expanded soundstage.

The Curtis GB-001 incorporates a high-quality cassette mechanism with a powerful motor and integrated speed control, supporting Type I and Type II (Chrome) tapes. Two illuminated VU meters serve both aesthetic and practical purposes, helping to adjust playback and recording levels. The microphone input features adjustable gain for live recording. The We Are Rewind Curtis GB-001 will retail for €449.
